WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda Placed in Hospice Care

The legendary “IRS” and father of Bray Wyatt faces declining health as wrestling world rallies in support.

One of pro wrestling’s most recognizable figures from the golden era, Mike Rotunda famously known as “IRS” has been placed in hospice care, his family and close friends confirmed this week. The 67-year-old WWE Hall of Famer is being remembered by fellow wrestlers and fans not just for his iconic in-ring persona, but for his character off the mat.

Barry Windham, Rotunda’s longtime tag team partner and brother-in-law, shared the difficult update during an interview over the weekend.

"It’s kinda tough right now. Mike is in hospice right now," Windham revealed, holding back details but expressing deep affection: "He was such a good person, never got in trouble his whole life."

WWE legend Leilani Kai echoed the somber news in a heartfelt post on X, writing, “It breaks my heart to share that my friend Mike Rotunda has been placed under hospice care... Please keep Mike and the Rotunda family in your prayers.”

Rotunda’s legacy in the wrestling world is nothing short of legendary:

  • As part of The U.S. Express alongside Windham, he won the WWF Tag Team Championships twice during the 1980s.

  • He later became known as “IRS” Irwin R. Schyster a heel character who browbeat opponents over unpaid taxes, making him one of the most entertaining antagonists of his time.

  • Teaming with Ted DiBiase as Money Inc., the duo captured the WWF Tag Team Titles three times, dominating early '90s tag team wrestling.

Rotunda was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024 a long-overdue recognition of a man who helped define an era of sports entertainment.

Behind the scenes, he was also a devoted father. His sons followed him into the ring: Windham Rotunda, better known as Bray Wyatt, who tragically passed away in 2023, and Taylor Rotunda, known in WWE as Bo Dallas.

With Rotunda’s health rapidly declining, the wrestling community is uniting in reflection and support. For a man who spent decades entertaining millions, it’s clear his impact extended far beyond scripted storylines and championships.
