Michael Reagan Dead at 80

The adopted son of President Ronald Reagan spent his life defending American values and mentoring the next generation of conservatives.

Michael Reagan, adopted son of President Ronald Reagan and tireless defender of conservative principles, passed away Sunday at the age of 80, surrounded by family in Los Angeles. A passionate commentator, respected author, and long-time radio host, Michael dedicated his life to preserving the ideals his father fought for and to reminding America what true leadership looks like.

His family released a heartfelt statement confirming the loss:

"Michael was and will always remain a beloved husband, father, and grandpa... Our hearts are deeply broken as we grieve the loss of a man who meant so much to all who knew and loved him."

For millions of conservatives across the country, Michael Reagan was more than the son of a president he was a voice of clarity in a media landscape too often dominated by left-wing narratives. He used his national platform to uphold the Constitution, warn against the creeping threats of socialism, and call out the failures of progressive leadership at every turn.

Scott Walker, former Wisconsin governor and current President of Young America’s Foundation (YAF), offered a powerful tribute:

“He did so much more than share stories about his father. He challenged the next generation to share the values he stood for... He called on them to be happy warriors in the battle to uphold the founding principles of our republic.”

Michael Reagan wasn’t just preaching to the choir he was preparing an army of young patriots. Through his work with YAF and regular appearances at the Reagan Ranch, he mentored thousands of students who would go on to fight for freedom in their communities, schools, and statehouses.

In fact:

  • Over 60% of attendees at Reagan Ranch events cited Michael as a key influence in their decision to enter politics or conservative advocacy.

  • His nationally syndicated radio show reached an estimated 5 million listeners at its peak.

  • His book Twice Adopted became a staple in Christian and conservative circles, blending personal faith with political conviction.

Walker recalled their final conversation just before Christmas “Michael and I last spoke on December 22, 2025... He and I also discussed his faith and devotion to Jesus. That should give us all comfort during this difficult time as he is with the Lord.”

Tributes from across the country poured in, from media figures to everyday Americans impacted by his legacy. Katie Pavlich wrote, “Crushed to hear the news of Michael Reagan’s passing. What a life he led and always with a huge smile.” Gabriella Hoffman, a former YAF student activist, shared, “Very sad to learn of @ReaganWorld’s passing... I’m forever grateful to Mr. Reagan’s dad, President Ronald Reagan, for allowing my parents, Soviet escapees, to settle in America.”

Michael Reagan represented a kind of moral clarity and national pride that feels increasingly rare. He never wavered in his love for this country and never stopped pushing others to protect its founding principles. In an age when Democrats are more focused on appeasing radicals than preserving America’s greatness, voices like Michael’s are needed now more than ever.

He may be gone, but his message lives on.
