McCormick Ad Targets Casey Over Support for Iran Nuclear Deal Amid Missile Attacks on Israel
As Iranian Missiles Strike Israel, McCormick Slams Casey’s Role in Enabling Tehran's Regime.
As Iranian missiles rain down on Israel, the political heat in Pennsylvania’s Senate race is turning up. GOP candidate Dave McCormick is hammering Democrat Senator Bob Casey for his role in backing the disastrous 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which McCormick argues has empowered Tehran’s aggression and led to the ongoing missile strikes against Israel.
In a hard-hitting ad released as tensions escalate in the Middle East, McCormick an Iraq War veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star drew a clear connection between Casey’s vote for the deal and Iran’s emboldened actions. On Tuesday, as Israel endured an onslaught of roughly 200 missiles, McCormick blasted Casey on X, highlighting how the 2015 agreement has allowed Iran to finance terror groups and build up its military arsenal. “Bob Casey was the deciding vote for the 2015 Iran Deal, unlocking billions for Tehran to build up its military arsenal and underwrite terrorist proxies,” McCormick stated. He also recalled Casey’s claim that the deal would make Israel "secure." Today, Israel faces an existential threat once again, and many are questioning Casey’s foreign policy judgment.
The 2015 Iran Deal released over $100 billion to the Iranian regime, much of which was funneled to terrorist groups in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon.
Iran continues to be the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, supporting militant groups that pose direct threats to Israel and the broader Middle East.
In 2023 alone, Iran’s military budget surged by 50%, a result of renewed sanctions relief and the 2015 nuclear deal's disastrous framework.
The ad features footage of missiles streaking across the Israeli sky, accompanied by Fox News’ Trey Yingst reporting on the unfolding ballistic missile attack, which, he noted, was launched from Iranian territory. The screen then shifts to statements made by Casey in 2015, where he proudly endorsed the deal, claiming it would enhance "the security of Israel and the region."
Now, eight years later, as Israel faces this renewed assault, McCormick is highlighting the clear failure of such policies. His ad reminds voters that Casey doubled down on his support for the deal in 2018, arguing that it should have remained in place, even as Iran continued to threaten regional stability.
McCormick’s criticism didn’t stop at foreign policy. He also took aim at Casey’s endorsement of U.S. Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), an openly anti-Israel figure with a history of inflammatory rhetoric against the Jewish state. McCormick pointed out the hypocrisy of Casey’s claims to stand with Israel while simultaneously supporting a candidate who has made anti-Semitic statements. “Bob Casey kept his endorsement of Summer Lee,” McCormick said. “She is an avowed anti-Semite, and Casey didn’t bat an eye.”
As the Pennsylvania Senate race tightens, with recent polls showing Casey’s lead dwindling to within the margin of error, McCormick’s attacks on Casey’s foreign policy record could be a pivotal issue in the campaign. Casey’s support for the Iran deal and its catastrophic consequences for both Israel and U.S. security may well cost him the race.
With America’s closest ally in the Middle East under siege, the stakes in this Senate race couldn’t be higher. Voters are now forced to decide: will they back a candidate who supports a failed deal with Iran, or will they choose a leader like McCormick who prioritizes America’s national security and stands firmly with Israel?
