NYC Mayoral Frontrunner Refuses to Condemn Hamas

Zohran Mamdani dodges direct questions on whether Hamas should disarm and relinquish control of Gaza.

Zohran Mamdani, the far-left Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, refused multiple times to say whether he believes Hamas should disarm or step down from leadership in Gaza even when pressed directly during a Fox News interview Wednesday.

In an exchange with host Martha MacCallum, Mamdani dodged the core question again and again, offering vague platitudes about human rights and affordability in New York City instead of addressing a terrorist organization responsible for slaughtering civilians and holding American hostages.

“Do you believe Hamas should lay down their weapons and leave the leadership in Gaza?” MacCallum asked.

Mamdani’s answer? A word salad about New York housing prices and “universal human rights.” “My focus… is right here in New York City and transforming the most expensive city in America into one that’s affordable,” Mamdani said.

MacCallum tried again. And again. “But you won’t say that Hamas should lay down their arms and give up leadership in Gaza?” she pressed. “I don’t really have opinions about the future of Hamas and Israel beyond the question of justice and safety,” Mamdani replied, declining once more to clearly denounce the terror group.

This is the leading mayoral candidate in the largest Jewish city outside of Israel, and he won’t say Hamas should disarm, even after the group butchered over 1,200 civilians last year and still refuses to return the remains of American hostages.

This isn’t some fringe protester with a bullhorn. Mamdani is a serious contender to run New York City, leading in most polls ahead of Election Day on November 4, and currently outpacing former Governor Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent, and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

His radical views aren’t a secret:

  • Mamdani has consistently downplayed Hamas’s role in the conflict while relentlessly attacking Israel.

  • He’s endorsed by organizations that support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

  • And now, when asked whether a recognized terror group should disarm and step aside, he can’t even say yes.

Meanwhile, Jewish communities across New York are watching closely. The city is home to over 1.5 million Jews, the largest population outside Tel Aviv. These voters have a right to know whether the man who wants to lead their city is willing to stand up to terrorism or make excuses for it.

Mamdani's refusal to answer a simple question exposes a dangerous reality: the modern left has become so ideologically obsessed and politically compromised, it can’t even condemn terrorism when it stares them in the face.

And New Yorkers are supposed to hand this man the keys to City Hall?

Election Day is coming. Voters have a choice and now, they have clarity on where Mamdani stands.
