Los Angeles Declares Emergency to Shield Illegals from ICE

County prioritizes rent handouts and legal aid for illegal immigrants over citizens impacted by fires and crime.

While Los Angeles County burns literally and figuratively its Democrat-led Board of Supervisors has declared a “state of emergency” not for citizens displaced by wildfires or the rising crime wave, but for illegal immigrants affected by Trump-era ICE raids.

In a stunning move passed in a 4–1 vote on Tuesday, the Board approved a Proclamation of Local Emergency for Federal Immigration Actions, unlocking public funds for rent assistance, legal defense, and other taxpayer-funded services to shield those who’ve entered the country illegally.

“What’s happening in our communities is an emergency,” declared Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, a vocal sanctuary city proponent. “We will continue to stand with our immigrant neighbors today, and for as long as it takes.”

Your tax dollars will continue flowing to people who broke federal law to get here while your roads crumble, businesses close, and fire victims wait for help.

The declaration comes in direct response to recent federal immigration enforcement led by ICE under policies revived by President Donald Trump. These actions, aimed at removing violent offenders and illegal workers from job sites, have triggered predictable outrage from far-left leaders in L.A.

Here’s what the “emergency” really provides:

  • Rental assistance for illegals allegedly impacted by immigration enforcement.

  • Legal aid funded by taxpayers to fight deportation proceedings.

  • Increased funding for bureaucrats to “coordinate” services for non-citizens.

  • A direct rebuke of federal law enforcement carrying out lawful deportations.

ICE didn’t hold back in its response. “The only state of emergency is the one the residents of Los Angeles face after electing officials who give a middle finger to the law,” said ICE spokeswoman Emily Covington.

She went further, pointing out that the same Board ignoring fire victims and law-abiding citizens would be the first to quietly support ICE if the agency was removing violent criminals from their own neighborhoods.

“While they publicly fear-monger, I would be shocked if they didn’t agree with ICE removing a child rapist from their neighborhood.”

In the past year alone, Los Angeles has seen a spike in violent crime, open-air drug use, and homelessness yet its leadership remains laser-focused on protecting criminal illegal aliens, even as cities around the country begin to push back on open border policies.

This summer, anti-ICE riots erupted across Los Angeles, with mobs throwing concrete at agents, torching vehicles, and blocking major highways. In Ventura County, protesters even attempted to stop ICE from raiding a marijuana farm accused of employing illegal immigrants and children.

President Trump responded by deploying over 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to restore order and defend federal agents.

While the Biden administration continues to look the other way, Americans are watching and remembering which leaders stood for law and order, and which ones turned their cities into sanctuaries for lawbreakers.
