Kid Rock Calls Out Michelle Obama Over Skipping Trump’s Inauguration

The rocker highlights respect for the presidency amid the former first lady's controversial decision.

Kid Rock didn’t hold back when addressing Michelle Obama’s decision to skip President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime”, the legendary rocker shared a pointed reminder about respect for the office of the presidency, regardless of political differences.

Kid Rock, who is set to perform at Trump’s second inauguration alongside country superstars Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, reflected on a similar situation during Barack Obama’s first inauguration.

“I was actually listening to your show a little bit before I got in the truck here. And I heard Michelle Obama’s not attending,” Kid Rock said. “I would kindly remind her that years back, when Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him, but they asked me to play the inauguration, and I played it, and I went, had a good time. I went out of respect to the presidency.”

The former first lady’s decision has drawn criticism, particularly in light of her role as a figurehead of unity during her time in the White House. Watters asked Kid Rock why he thought Michelle Obama would forgo the event, to which the rocker responded with characteristic bluntness.

“I don’t know,” Kid Rock replied. “She seems a little angry. She might be wow. I don’t know. If you can’t say something nice, let me hear it.”

Kid Rock is among a lineup of performers slated to celebrate Trump’s second term, with events featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and even the Village People. For the rally ahead of the main event, the “Cowboy” singer has been crafting something uniquely memorable.

“I’ve spent so much time on this,” Kid Rock explained. “When I was first asked, it was kind of a thing where they’re like, can you show up and play the track, do a couple songs? And I was like, respectfully, I’m not interested in that at all. I’d rather help you any way I can. I’m a supporter.”

Despite the restrictions imposed by the Secret Service, including limitations on fireworks and pyrotechnics, Kid Rock assured fans that his performance will be “something very special.”

While Michelle Obama’s absence has sparked controversy, Kid Rock’s remarks serve as a reminder of the broader principles at play: respecting the presidency and finding common ground, even when political views diverge.

As Kid Rock prepares to celebrate Trump’s second inauguration, his message to the former first lady underscores a key question: Should personal politics ever overshadow respect for the office of the president?
