Kamala Harris Slams Trump SOTU and Faces Swift White House Rebuke
Kamala Harris calls President Donald Trump a liar after his State of the Union address as the White House fires back.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t hold back in her reaction to President Trump’s State of the Union address.
In a podcast interview following the speech, Harris dismissed the address as “same old, same old” and accused Trump of lying about the economy and the state of the country. Within hours, the White House delivered a pointed response one that underscored just how politically diminished Harris has become since 2024.
If Americans cared what she thought, a spokesperson quipped, she wouldn’t be watching from her couch.
Appearing on “The Parnas Perspective,” Harris claimed Trump’s State of the Union address lacked substance and misrepresented the reality facing Americans.
“It was full of lies,” she said, adding that parts of the speech reminded her of “show and tell at school.”
Harris argued that Americans remain burdened by high prices, unaffordable healthcare, and housing costs and suggested the speech offered little meaningful relief.
But the economic record tells a more complicated story.
Inflation peaked at 9.1% in 2022 under the Biden-Harris administration, the highest level in 40 years.
Mortgage rates more than doubled during that period, contributing to housing affordability challenges.
Real disposable income declined for multiple quarters before stabilizing.
Critics argue that Harris attacking Trump over affordability ignores the economic turbulence voters experienced during her own time in office.
The White House response was swift and cutting. Spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed Harris’ comments outright, suggesting that if voters truly valued her perspective, the political landscape would look very different.
The exchange highlights a broader dynamic: Harris remains a prominent Democrat, but her national political standing has weakened significantly.
After losing the 2024 election cycle alongside President Joe Biden, Harris has struggled to redefine her public image. Recent polling has shown her favorability ratings hovering below 45%, reflecting continued skepticism among independents and swing voters.
Yet speculation about a 2028 presidential bid continues.
Toward the end of the interview, Harris was asked whether she had regrets about the 2024 campaign.
“I have many regrets,” she admitted, referencing a book she wrote about the race.
While she stopped short of formally declaring a 2028 run, she has repeatedly hinted that she “might” seek the presidency again.
That possibility sets up an intriguing contrast. Trump used his State of the Union address to outline policies focused on border security, economic growth, and American strength abroad. Harris responded with criticism but offered few concrete policy alternatives during the interview.
For voters, the contrast matters.
The State of the Union is traditionally a platform for a president to frame the national conversation. Rebuttals and reactions are part of the political ritual, but they also serve as unofficial audition tapes for future campaigns.
Harris’ critique may energize segments of the Democratic base. However, it also reinforces the partisan divide that defined the last election cycle.
Meanwhile, Americans continue to rank inflation, border security, and national security among their top concerns. According to recent surveys, a majority of voters still believe the country is on the wrong track a sentiment that reshaped the political map in 2024.
Whether Harris can successfully rebrand herself ahead of 2028 remains an open question. What is clear is that her comments ensured she remains part of the national conversation and that the White House is ready to respond.
