Kamala Harris Hints at Political Comeback
After a humiliating defeat, Harris signals she’s not done chasing power in California.

Kamala Harris, fresh off a devastating defeat in the 2024 presidential election, is back in the public eye this time teasing yet another run for office. Speaking at a summit in Dana Point, California, the former vice president made it clear that she’s not stepping away from politics anytime soon.
“I’ll see you out there. I’m not going anywhere,” Harris told attendees at the Leading Women Defined Summit.
That vague but pointed remark has fueled speculation that Harris is eyeing a run for California governor in 2026, with reports suggesting she’s giving herself until the end of the summer to make it official. The problem? Voters just rejected her on the national stage and California’s already packed Democrat bench is brimming with contenders who are arguably more popular and less polarizing.
Here’s who’s already jumped into the California gubernatorial ring:
Xavier Becerra–former HHS Secretary and California Attorney General
Katie Porter–former U.S. Representative
Antonio Villaraigosa–former Mayor of Los Angeles
Eleni Kounalakis–current Lieutenant Governor
Betty Yee–former State Controller
Toni Atkins–former state legislator
Tony Thurmond–state schools Superintendent
It’s a crowded field, and Harris would be walking into a political minefield with little momentum. Her record as vice president was widely viewed as ineffective, marred by embarrassing word salads, a string of gaffes, and vanishing acts during multiple crises. Her own party often seemed unsure how to handle her, and voters never warmed up to her leadership style or lack thereof.
Despite all that, Harris is still clinging to political relevance, portraying herself as a needed voice against what she calls a “sense of fear” under the Trump administration.
“These are the things that we are witnessing each day in these last few months in our country… it understandably creates a great sense of fear,” Harris said Thursday, taking a not-so-subtle jab at President Trump without naming him.
Translation? The campaign trail talking points aren’t over. She’s not done stoking fear about Trump, even though the voters already made it clear they’re not buying what she’s selling. What’s more telling is that instead of doing any serious reflection after her 2024 collapse, Harris is hinting at another power grab.
Let’s be real: Kamala Harris has always been more interested in her own ambition than actually getting results. Her eyes may be on Sacramento, but if her history holds true, she’ll struggle to win over voters who remember the broken promises and political pandering.
