Kamala Harris Admits She Rejected Buttigieg for Being ‘A Straight White Man’
New memoir reveals identity politics, not merit, drove her VP pick as she attacks Biden and plays the victim

Kamala Harris just confirmed what millions of Americans already suspected: Democrats care more about identity politics than actual leadership.
In a stunning admission from her upcoming memoir 107 Days, Harris reveals that Pete Buttigieg was her first choice for running mate during the 2024 presidential electio but she rejected him because she feared America wouldn’t accept a ticket that was “too diverse.”
“He would have been an ideal partner if I were a straight white man,” Harris wrote, lamenting that a pairing of a Black female candidate and a gay male candidate was “too big of a risk.”
So instead of choosing the most qualified person, Harris caved to the left’s obsession with “optics” and picked someone who fit the narrative. She ultimately chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a safe, middle-of-the-road white Democrat with a progressive record and establishment ties.
Let’s break this down:
Harris flat-out admitted she disqualified Buttigieg based on race and gender a move that would spark national outrage if the roles were reversed.
Her comment reveals the twisted logic of the modern Democratic Party, where merit, experience, and capability come second to skin color and political convenience.
She also throws President Biden under the bus, calling his 2024 campaign “recklessness” driven by ego.
“Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness,” Harris wrote, accusing Biden’s team of trying to undermine her from the beginning.
This is coming from the woman who was so unpopular during the 2020 Democratic primary that she dropped out before a single vote was cast. And yet somehow, she still sees herself as the victim blocked by racism, sexism, and now even Buttigieg’s whiteness.
Harris praised Buttigieg in the book, calling him a “sincere public servant” with the ability to speak to conservatives. Ironically, she admits he could've been the right person for the job if only she had been a man.
This is the exact problem with the left’s obsession with identity: it forces leaders to make political decisions based on appearance, not performance. And it's why voters are turning away from the Democratic Party in droves.
Meanwhile, Buttigieg is reportedly eyeing a 2028 run for president, having declined to run for Senate in Michigan this year. With Harris now confirming that identity politics cost him a spot on the ticket, it raises serious questions about how deep these ideological games go inside the Democratic machine.
And in classic Harris fashion, she manages to both blame the system for holding her back and claim the moral high ground for choosing the “less risky” route. The truth? She played it safe to protect her political career, and now she’s rewriting history in hopes of saving face.
With 107 Days set to release on September 23, don’t expect any new policy ideas or serious introspection. It’s shaping up to be a 300-page complaint about how the world just isn’t fair to Kamala Harris even when she’s one of the most powerful people on the planet.
