Joy Reid Defends Anti-Trump, Anti-Israel Statement ‘I’m Not Sorry, It Was Of God’

The former host says her controversial views were “of God” in a tearful interview.

Joy Reid, the now-former MSNBC host, delivered an emotional and defiant interview just hours after it was announced that her show “The Reidout” was being canceled. Speaking on the “Win With Black Women” podcast, Reid stood by her years of divisive and controversial statements, declaring that her anti-Trump and anti-Israel positions were “of God.”

Reid, whose 7 p.m. show was axed as part of a broader shakeup at MSNBC, described a rollercoaster of emotions following the news. She admitted to feeling anger, disappointment, and guilt, particularly over her staff losing their jobs. But in the end, she said, she felt “pure gratitude” for the opportunity to share her voice on national television.

  • Emotional Defiance: “I’m not sorry. I am not sorry that I stood up for those things because those things are of God,” Reid insisted, showing no remorse for her past statements.

  • Controversial Takes: Over the years, Reid’s show often featured harsh criticism of former President Donald Trump and his supporters, as well as fiery takes on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

  • Selective Outrage: While Reid spoke passionately about Palestinian children in Gaza, she made no mention of the Israeli children killed during the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks or in the violence since.

Reid’s defiant stance is nothing new. She has frequently positioned herself as a champion of progressive causes, from Black Lives Matter to open borders, often lacing her commentary with sharp attacks on conservatives and traditional American values. During the podcast, she praised controversial figures like Nikole Hannah-Jones of the “1619 Project,” suggesting that America’s true founding began with slavery a view widely criticized by historians and conservatives alike.

Her comments on Gaza also echoed her consistent anti-Israel bias. Reid criticized American support for Israel while defending the Palestinian cause, often overlooking the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists. Her omission of the October 7th attacks where Hamas brutally murdered and kidnapped Israeli civilians, including children speaks volumes about her selective compassion.

The MSNBC host’s departure from the network marks the end of a contentious chapter. Throughout her tenure, Reid was no stranger to controversy. She previously faced backlash for old homophobic blog posts and conspiracy theories, though she claimed those were the result of hacking an excuse that never held up.

While MSNBC did not explicitly state the reason for her firing, Reid’s declining ratings and growing disconnect with mainstream audiences likely played a role. With media outlets shifting in response to market realities, it appears that Reid’s brand of outrage politics no longer aligns with the network’s strategy.

Reid's unrepentant attitude will no doubt resonate with her base of far-left supporters, but for many Americans, her words only reinforce why she was shown the door. As the media landscape continues to evolve, the end of "The Reidout" is a clear sign that viewers are seeking voices that unify rather than divide.
