Speaker Johnson Calls Intel Leak From Biden Admin On Israel 'Very Concerning'

Johnson warns U.S. intelligence leak weakens Israel, emphasizes need for pressure on Iran.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) expressed deep concern over the recent intelligence leak from inside the Biden-Harris administration, which exposed U.S. spying operations on Israel as the nation prepares to strike Iran. The leak, which was published by a pro-Iran Telegram account, has raised alarm across Washington, especially as tensions in the Middle East escalate.

During a Sunday interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union, Johnson addressed the classified material leak, calling it “very concerning.” He confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation to determine the source of the leak, and he expects a classified briefing on the matter soon. The leaked documents reportedly show Israel's military plans for a strike against Iran, which Israel is preparing in response to Iran’s recent missile attacks.

Johnson also spoke about his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose home was targeted in a drone attack by Hezbollah earlier this weekend. Johnson told Netanyahu that following the Biden-Harris administration’s advice on handling the war against Hamas and Hezbollah would have left Israel in a “much weaker position.”

  • Johnson’s Warning: Johnson stressed the importance of recognizing Iran as the ultimate threat, not just its terrorist proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah. “Now is the time for a maximum pressure campaign against the head of the snake,” he stated, making it clear that Israel’s true enemy is Iran itself.

  • U.S. Intel Breach: The intelligence leak, which detailed Israel’s military movements and preparations, is being seen as a significant security breach that could undermine Israel’s strategic operations against Iran. The classified material was reportedly gathered through U.S. spy satellites.

As the investigation continues, Johnson’s remarks underscore the high stakes involved and the growing tensions between Israel, Iran, and the Biden administration's approach to the region.
