JD Vance Serves Beer to Troops During Stop at Ramstein Air Base
Vice President shares a moment of levity and a stein of beer with U.S. service members overseas.

Amid the whirlwind of international diplomacy and somber visits, Vice President JD Vance took a moment to unwind with U.S. troops, sharing beers and laughs at Germany’s Ramstein Air Base during a refueling stop on his way back to the United States.
Vance, fresh off a historic visit to the Vatican for Easter Sunday just hours before the tragic passing of Pope Francis had traveled with his wife Usha and their three young children on a packed itinerary that also included a multi-day visit to India. But despite the jet lag and a nonstop schedule, Vance made time to connect with America’s service members the best way possible: with cold beer and genuine appreciation.
“I have no idea what the hell day it is, what time it is, but we’re glad to be here with you guys,” Vance joked as he took the microphone.
Standing beside a custom-built “kegerator” designed by Air Force Master Sgt. Anthony Davis, the Vice President didn’t just raise a glass he poured them himself, joking, “I’m not giving everybody a full pour here,” and quipping with airmen about their tour status and legal drinking age. When one airman teased him to do “the Trump dance,” the crowd laughed, a reminder that this administration still knows how to keep it real with the troops.
Before pouring beers, Vance hoisted a traditional German painted stein and considered chugging then quickly backed off: “That would go viral, and not in a good way, my friends.”
Instead, he offered a heartfelt toast “To the airmen of this base, the airwomen of this base, and all of our troops serving overseas, God bless you guys. Cheers.”
Moments like this cut through the noise of politics and remind us why leadership matters. JD Vance, a Marine veteran himself, understands what it means to serve and what it means to be thousands of miles from home, especially during the holidays. That’s a far cry from the aloof, out-of-touch photo ops we came to expect from previous administrations.
And while Biden’s State Department continues to fumble global diplomacy and let our adversaries grow bolder, it’s Trump’s team that shows up, rolls up their sleeves, and engages with the people who make freedom possible.
Vice President Vance even signed the iconic kegerator after his toast, telling Davis, “This thing is awesome.” It’s a small gesture, but a meaningful one especially to the men and women who serve.
Because leadership isn't just policy. It's presence.
