JD Vance Honors Mother’s 10 Years of Sobriety in the White House
Vice President fulfills RNC promise, celebrating personal triumph over addiction with family and faith.

In a rare and deeply personal moment in Washington, Vice President JD Vance brought his mother, Beverly Vance, to the White House on Friday to celebrate her tenth year of sobriety a promise he made publicly during the 2024 Republican National Convention, and one he proudly fulfilled.
“This year marks my mom’s 10th year of sobriety, and I’m grateful that we were able to celebrate in the White House with our family,” Vance wrote in a post on X. “Mom, I am so proud of you.”
The event marks not only a powerful family milestone, but a symbolic victory over one of the most destructive crises in modern American life: the opioid epidemic. Vance chronicled his family’s battle with addiction in his bestselling memoir Hillbilly Elegy, painting an unflinching portrait of the economic despair and cultural disintegration that plagued his Ohio upbringing. His mother's addiction stood at the heart of that story.
And now, ten years sober, Beverly Vance stood at the center of a new story one of grace, recovery, and redemption. She received her 10-year medallion inside the White House, surrounded by loved ones, and honored not just by her son, but by conservative leaders and Americans across the country.
At the RNC in Milwaukee, Vance made the promise clear:
“It’ll be ten years officially in 2025, and if President Trump’s OK with it, let’s have the celebration in the White House.”
President Trump, as expected, kept the door wide open.
This is what leadership looks like: honoring family, rooting for recovery, and showing the country that healing is not only possible it’s worth celebrating.
Photos of the event quickly spread on social media, with prominent figures across the conservative movement chiming in:
Megyn Kelly: “This is amazing. You’ve all been thru so much. Rock on Beverly.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson: “Congratulations to Ms. Beverly on this inspiring milestone.”
Brianna Lyman: “Sobriety is a beautiful thing seeing Vance’s mom mark such a huge milestone is heartwarming.”
For a nation still reeling from years of drug-fueled devastation fueled in part by open borders and Big Pharma’s unchecked greed this moment matters. More than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in 2023 alone. For every Beverly Vance, there are thousands more still battling to get there. But her story proves it can be done.
It also reinforces why leadership rooted in family, faith, and resilience is more important now than ever. Vice President Vance didn’t just bring policy expertise to the White House he brought perspective, shaped by hardship and hardened by truth.
This wasn’t just a celebration. It was a signal to every broken-hearted family out there: Don’t give up.
