JD Vance Sets the Record Straight on FEMA Funding for Illegal Immigrants
Vance slams the Biden-Harris administration for diverting FEMA resources away from American citizens.
Senator JD Vance (R-OH) took aim at the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) resources, unraveling the media spin surrounding claims that FEMA funds used to resettle illegal migrants were separate from those intended for disaster relief. Appearing on “Fox & Friends,” Vance dismantled the narrative, insisting that any diversion of FEMA’s focus was a betrayal to American citizens in crisis.
With Hurricane Helene having left parts of the southeastern U.S. in shambles, FEMA is already facing scrutiny for reportedly lacking the funds to cover the remainder of the hurricane season. Fox News host Will Cain pointed to the confusion over whether FEMA’s funds, used for migrant resettlement, could have been reallocated to assist American citizens still reeling from the hurricane’s destruction.
“They’ll say, ‘Well there’s a bucket of money in FEMA that’s gone to illegal aliens and that’s somehow separate than the bucket of money that should by right go to Americans,’” Vance began, calling out the administration's excuses. He explained that the core problem isn’t whether there are separate buckets of money but rather the fact that any FEMA resources are being used to resettle illegal migrants instead of being reserved for disaster-stricken Americans.
“That is just going to fundamentally distract focus from their core job of helping American citizens in their time of need,” Vance asserted, blasting the Biden-Harris administration for turning FEMA into a de facto immigration agency rather than ensuring the agency’s primary mission assisting Americans after natural disasters is upheld.
Key points from Vance’s remarks:
FEMA reportedly doesn’t have enough funding to last through the rest of the hurricane season, yet resources have been allocated for the resettlement of illegal migrants.
Vance argued that the administration’s use of FEMA for illegal immigration is a direct betrayal to American citizens, especially those recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
Vance noted that the larger issue is not just the division of funds but the loss of focus on FEMA’s critical mission of aiding Americans in disaster zones.
As reports circulate about FEMA’s stretched resources, Vance’s comments highlight the growing frustration among Americans who feel abandoned in favor of the administration’s immigration agenda. Instead of prioritizing aid for U.S. citizens, Vance argues, the Biden-Harris administration has chosen to direct FEMA's attention elsewhere, leaving disaster victims to fend for themselves.
