J.D. Vance Praised as Leading Senator on Immigration Issues

Trump’s Running Mate Praised for Strong Stance on Border Security and Immigration Reform.

Former President Donald Trump’s new running mate, United States Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio, has been widely celebrated as “one of the best” Republicans on immigration. This critical issue is expected to play a major role in the upcoming November election.

Activists and organizations advocating for secure borders and effective immigration policies have applauded Trump's decision to select Vance, citing his robust record on immigration.

“Trump picks [J.D. Vance] for Vice President, one of THE BEST lawmakers on the immigration issue. The largest deportation effort in American history is going to have one hell of a co-pilot!” the National Immigration Center for Enforcement posted on X.

RJ Hauman, president of the organization, emphasized Trump’s commitment to border security: “President Trump was first elected to secure our border and enforce our immigration laws after decades of neglect in Washington — and he delivered on his promises. By choosing a fierce immigration reformer like Senator Vance as his running mate, President Trump has reaffirmed to the American people that our borders must be secured and immigration laws aggressively enforced.”

Ryan Walker, Vice President at Heritage Action, also praised Vance’s selection. “With a 93% on the Heritage Action scorecard, Senator JD Vance has proven to be a committed conservative fighter in the Senate. He wants to secure the border, enforce the rule of law, and protect American workers.”

Vance has earned an “A” grade from NumbersUSA, an organization that advocates for ending chain migration, implementing mandatory E-Verify for employers, and abolishing birthright citizenship. NumbersUSA CEO James Massa remarked, “Senator Vance understands that immigration policy must no longer be determined by special interests in Washington, D.C., or big business seeking cheap labor at the expense of American workers, but instead designed in the interest of the American people at large.”

Vance co-sponsors the “Reshape Alternatives to Detention (ATD) Act,” a bill that could enable Trump to fulfill his promise of enacting “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

Immigration has become a pivotal issue for voters heading into the 2024 presidential election, where Trump and Vance will face incumbent President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The Biden administration has seen more than 10 million people unlawfully crossing the border, with an estimated 1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded since Biden took office in 2021. By comparison, there were 415,000 total reported gotaways in 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration.

Recent polls highlight the importance of this issue: only 36% of voters approve of Biden’s performance on immigration, while a majority of Americans support increasing deportations, building a wall on the southern border, and penalizing businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
