Israel Launches Second Strike, Detonating Thousands of Hezbollah Walkie-Talkies

In a second wave of precision bombings, Israel dealt another crippling blow to Hezbollah on Wednesday, detonating thousands of booby-trapped walkie-talkies used by the Iranian-backed terrorist group. The operation follows Tuesday’s strike, in which Israel detonated explosive-laden pagers, injuring thousands of Hezbollah fighters.

According to Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, the walkie-talkies were part of Hezbollah’s emergency communications system, intended for use during a war with Israel. Israeli intelligence services reportedly infiltrated the supply chain, rigging the devices before they were distributed to Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon.

“The personal radios that were booby-trapped in advance by Israeli intelligence services and then delivered to Hezbollah were part of the militia’s emergency communications system,” Ravid reported, citing sources familiar with the operation.

This second strike further hampers Hezbollah’s ability to coordinate in the event of escalated conflict with Israel. The walkie-talkies were detonated remotely in a highly coordinated operation, mirroring the precision tactics used during the first wave of attacks, which targeted pagers embedded with explosives. Those explosions injured approximately 4,000 Hezbollah members, with hundreds in critical condition and at least a dozen confirmed dead.

Israel’s intelligence prowess was on full display in these operations, marking a significant escalation in its campaign against Hezbollah. The group, which has long been a proxy for Iran in the region, relies heavily on secure communications networks to orchestrate attacks against Israel. By targeting these communication tools, Israel has effectively weakened Hezbollah’s infrastructure without engaging in direct military conflict.

These back-to-back strikes demonstrate Israel's commitment to neutralizing Hezbollah’s capabilities before any full-scale confrontation erupts.
