Israel Moves Forward With Plan to Relocate Gazans Under Trump’s Vision

Israeli leaders embrace Trump-backed emigration strategy to secure long-term stability.

Israeli Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich announced on Sunday that Israel is establishing a special Emigration Administration to advance President Donald Trump’s vision for relocating Gazans. This move signals a major policy shift aimed at achieving long-term stability and security in the region.

“We are creating a special Emigration Administration,” Smotrich declared at a Knesset caucus meeting. “In order for the tremendous price our nation has paid not to be in vain, we must seize this opportunity with both hands and adopt the plan that has been floated by the U.S. President.”

This administration, backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, will coordinate with the Trump administration to identify countries willing to accept Gazan emigrants.

  • The plan prioritizes voluntary migration, though it faces logistical hurdles. Even if 5,000 Gazans were relocated daily, it would take over a year to complete the process.

  • Israeli leaders argue that leaving Hamas-controlled Gaza intact is not a viable option. Minister Orit Strock stated that removing a majority of the population is necessary to eliminate the long-term threat.

  • The policy has strong support among Israeli lawmakers. The Knesset Land of Israel Caucus, the largest in parliament with 80 members, is leading the charge.

MK Simcha Rothman called Trump’s plan a “common sense revolution”, warning that anyone opposing it is effectively collaborating with Hamas.

While Trump has made it clear that he does not support rebuilding Jewish settlements in Gaza at this time, some Israeli officials have a different vision.

MK Limor Son-Har-Melech advocated for “large-scale Jewish settlement” in Gaza, envisioning a future where Jewish children once again play in Gaza’s streets. This remains a highly controversial issue, as Israel’s 2005 disengagement forcibly removed 8,600 Jewish residents from Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials continue to take decisive action against Hamas. Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced that Israel has cut off electricity to Gaza, citing Hamas’s refusal to release remaining hostages.

As Israel moves forward with Trump’s vision, the region’s future will depend on swift execution of the plan and continued support from the U.S.
