Israel Unveils Iron Beam Laser as Arms Sales Hit Record $15 Billion
Battle-tested and unmatched, Israel’s next-gen defense tech changes warfare forever with U.S. backing and global demand soaring.

While much of the world obsesses over Israel’s politics, its enemies are quietly lining up to buy its weapons.
In 2024, Israel shattered records with over $15 billion in arms exports, becoming the eighth-largest weapons exporter on Earth and the only one the size of New Jersey.
From Iron Dome interceptors to next-gen cybersecurity systems, Israel’s defense tech is battle-tested and in high demand. But the real headline? The unveiling of Iron Beam a laser weapon system that promises to change warfare as we know it.
Developed by Rafael Defense Industries in cooperation with Lockheed Martin and funded in part by the U.S. Pentagon, the Iron Beam is already in use, intercepting drones and missiles at the speed of light.
“We’ve already used it against UAVs launched by Hezbollah and missiles from Iran. It works,” said Tel Aviv University professor and former Ministry of Defense R&D head Isaac Ben-David.
Why the Iron Beam matters:
It intercepts threats like rockets, mortars, and drones from up to 6 miles away using light.
Each interception costs just $1 to $2 compared to $100,000 to $1 million per interceptor missile.
Response time is near-instant, as lasers travel at the speed of light.
It’s the first laser weapon to be successfully deployed in real combat a goal that eluded the U.S. and others for decades.
“With the laser, the only cost is electricity. Less than a hot dog in New York,” said Rafael chairman Yuval Steinitz.
While other nations dream of futuristic warfare, Israel is already deploying it especially in the north, where Hezbollah rockets from Lebanon can cross the border in under 60 seconds. Iron Beam closes that window entirely.
This is more than innovation it’s a military revolution. “In time, maybe five years, it will enable us to shoot down every hostile object in the air around Israel,” Steinitz added. “It’s really a game changer.”
And America is in on it. Washington contributed $1.2 billion to the project, and the technology is being incorporated into the U.S. Army’s own directed energy weapons program.
“We cannot do without the United States,” said Steinitz. “But sometimes, in a partnership, even the dwarf can contribute to the giant.”
Israel’s weapon exports reached new heights in 2024, with Europe leading the charge:
Germany and Finland are top buyers of Israeli air defense systems.
India, Thailand, and Greece are importing Israeli rockets and drones.
Even Muslim-majority countries like Morocco, UAE, and Bahrain are purchasing Israeli military tech.
Israel’s tools are trusted not because of politics but because they work. In a world where U.S. allies are losing faith in NATO and questioning Western resolve, Israel’s defense sector is delivering real solutions for a dangerous age.
Meanwhile, U.S. defense contractors are mired in delays, overruns, and bureaucracy. Israel is simply building the future and deploying it now.
This is what happens when you combine American strength with Israeli ingenuity. As the Iron Beam lights up the skies, one thing is certain: the battlefield will never look the same again.
