Ireland’s New President Delivers Christmas Message Without Mentioning Jesus
Catherine Connolly’s first holiday address praises climate activism and “diversity” while ignoring the reason for the season.

In a stunning display of modern secularism, Ireland’s newly installed president, Catherine Connolly, delivered her first Christmas message to the nation without once mentioning Jesus Christ. Yes, the president of a historically Catholic country found time to praise climate policies, promote political causes, and celebrate “diversity” but couldn’t spare even a passing reference to the birth of Christ.
Connolly’s tone-deaf message, posted to social media, focused instead on globalist talking points and left-wing narratives. While millions across Ireland and the world gathered to celebrate the birth of Jesus, Connolly offered platitudes about the Winter Solstice, climate change, and Palestinian statehood.
“Christmas invites us to reflect on the values that truly matter: kindness, tolerance, respect for each other’s differences,” she stated, skipping any mention of the very foundation of Christmas itself.
She also referenced the suffering in Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan, while conveniently omitting the 1,200 innocent Israeli victims of the October 7 Hamas massacre. For a holiday message supposedly rooted in peace and goodwill, the political undertones were hard to miss and the Christian faith was impossible to find.
Let’s not forget: Ireland remains overwhelmingly Christian, with over 78% identifying as Roman Catholic according to the most recent census. The island has been shaped by centuries of Christian faith, deep-rooted traditions, and strong moral values. Yet its new leader couldn’t find room in her speech to even name the Savior whose birth is the reason for the national holiday.
Critics didn’t stay silent:
Irish broadcaster Niall Boylan, not a religious man himself, noted: “Surely it might be respectful to give the birth of Jesus a quick mention. She’s only president of a Catholic country after all.”
A retired British police officer added, “Wouldn’t it be nice for once for political leaders to give a Christmas Message from the heart rather than a written one read from a lectern?”
Sadly, this isn’t surprising. Across Europe, and increasingly in the U.S., Christmas is being hollowed out into a politically correct winter celebration, stripped of its meaning and sanitized to appease globalist ideologies. Leaders who once honored tradition now use the holidays to push agendas on climate, immigration, and social engineering.
And the irony? Connolly called on the Irish people to embrace “the values that truly matter” while ignoring the ultimate source of those values: Christianity.
This wasn’t a Christmas message. It was a cultural signal one that tells faithful Irish citizens their beliefs are no longer welcome in public life. The global elite’s vision for the future doesn’t include Christ, and it appears Ireland’s president is fully on board.
