Iran Braces for Potential U.S. and Israeli Strike on Nuclear Facilities

With Trump’s likely return to office, Tehran fears a decisive blow to its nuclear ambitions.

Iran is on high alert amid growing concerns that the United States and Israel are preparing to strike its nuclear facilities. The Islamic regime, notorious as the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, has ramped up defense measures around key sites, including deploying anti-aircraft systems.

Multiple high-level government sources confirmed to The Telegraph that Iran has heightened its military preparedness, bracing for an imminent attack. According to one source, “They [Iranian authorities] are just waiting for the attack and are anticipating it every night.”

Key Developments:

  • Intensified Defense Measures: Iran has been fortifying its nuclear sites for years, with a significant increase in activity over the past year, especially since Israel's initial attack.

  • Trump's Influence: The prospect of Donald Trump’s return to the White House has “further intensified” Iran’s defensive efforts. Unlike Biden, Trump is expected to back any Israeli action against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

  • U.S. Military Role: With one Iranian facility buried under a mountain, Israel may need American bunker buster bombs the only ones powerful enough to penetrate such defenses.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that both the Biden and Trump administrations believe Israel might strike Iran this year, viewing Iran’s weakened state as an opportune moment. Israel's confidence stems from the expectation that Trump, not Biden, would support such a decisive action.

The December intelligence assessment warned of increased risks that Iran might pursue a nuclear weapon. Despite long-standing claims of peaceful intentions, internal debates in Iran over developing nuclear arms have grown.

Regional Dynamics:

  • Hezbollah and Syria: Over the past year, Israel has dismantled much of Hezbollah’s leadership and arsenal, crippling a major Iranian ally. Additionally, the fall of the Assad regime in Syria has robbed Tehran of a critical foothold in the region.

  • Failed Retaliations: Iranian missile strikes against Israel have largely failed, showcasing the regime’s diminishing power.

On the economic front, Iran is struggling under U.S. sanctions. Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign has only worsened the regime’s financial woes, potentially weakening its ability to mount a strong defense.

While Trump has occasionally signaled an openness to diplomacy, his administration has consistently demonstrated a willingness to use military force if necessary. Given Iran’s repeated attempts to assassinate Trump over the past year, the regime may soon learn just how dangerous it is to provoke American strength.
