Ilhan Omar Faces Committee Removal Over Remarks on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
House Republicans move to oust Squad member after she downplays Kirk’s legacy and fuels partisan vitriol.

Rep. Ilhan Omar is under fire once again this time, for her stunningly tone-deaf comments following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Now, House Republicans are moving swiftly to hold her accountable, with Rep. Buddy Carter introducing a resolution to strip Omar of her committee assignments.
Carter, a Republican from Georgia and member of the House Budget Committee, is calling for Omar’s removal from both the Budget Committee and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, where she currently holds the top Democrat seat on the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections.
The move comes in response to Omar’s disparaging remarks just days after Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at a Utah college event a targeted political assassination that has shocked the nation.
In an interview with the leftist outlet Zeteo, Omar minimized Kirk’s legacy, dismissed the conservative outpouring of grief, and launched into a rant filled with vulgarity and contempt. Despite claiming she had “empathy” for Kirk’s wife and children, Omar could not resist smearing him in the same breath.
“There is nothing more effed up… than to completely pretend that his words and actions have not been recorded,” Omar stated, referencing Kirk’s opposition to identity politics and his critiques of Juneteenth.
She went on to accuse Republicans of being “full of s---” for condemning Democrat rhetoric in the wake of Kirk’s death language that many believe adds fuel to the very kind of political hostility that led to the murder in the first place.
Though she later attempted to walk back her comments on X, her original statements tell the real story. Omar’s so-called empathy was drowned out by her own bitter obsession with smearing a man who can no longer defend himself.
Rep. Carter minced no words in his condemnation:
“Disparaging Charlie Kirk’s legacy, a God-fearing, honorable man… is disgusting.”
“Ilhan Omar openly used language that incites violence toward her political opponents.”
“Committees are for serious lawmakers, not hate-spewing politicians.”
Omar’s pattern of inflammatory rhetoric is nothing new:
She once referred to the 9/11 terror attacks as “some people did something.”
She accused Israel of “hypnotizing the world,” prompting bipartisan backlash.
She has repeatedly made comments that blur the line between disagreement and demonization.
Yet Democrats continue to reward her with leadership roles, placing her on key committees that impact education, labor, and federal spending. Republicans say enough is enough.
This is part of a broader reckoning following the political assassination of Charlie Kirk a pro-family, pro-God, pro-freedom conservative whose growing influence made him a target. The suspect, who left behind anti-fascist slogans etched on shell casings, appears to have been radicalized by the same kind of rhetoric that Omar and her far-left colleagues have mainstreamed.
With Carter’s resolution set to hit the floor, House Democrats will be forced to answer a simple question: Will they stand with decency and civility, or continue to excuse and empower radicals who mock a murdered father of two for political points?
The American people are watching and they’re tired of the double standard.
