What to Know About Joshua Jahn, the ICE Shooter

Left-wing extremist sought to instill “real terror” in ICE agents, referenced Charlie Kirk assassination before attack.

Joshua Jahn, the 29-year-old gunman behind Wednesday’s deadly ICE facility attack in Dallas, left behind a trail of disturbing clues, showing clear ideological motives and premeditation aimed at targeting U.S. immigration officials.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, Jahn fired on the ICE detention center from a rooftop near the facility, killing one illegal immigrant detainee and injuring two others before turning the gun on himself. The shooter reportedly left bullet casings engraved with “ANTI-ICE”, a chilling mark of intent that Patel says confirmed this was a politically driven act of domestic terrorism.

“Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘Is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’” Jahn wrote in a note found after the attack.

What the FBI Uncovered

  • Jahn searched online for the video of Charlie Kirk’s assassination in the days leading up to the shooting, revealing a disturbing fascination with left-wing political violence.

  • He also used tracking apps to monitor ICE agents' movements and downloaded a list of Department of Homeland Security facilities.

  • The FBI retrieved materials from Jahn’s devices and writings that further support the “ideological motive” behind the attack.

This wasn’t a random act of violence it was carefully plotted and intended to spread fear among federal agents.

In a familiar pattern, Jahn’s family tried to minimize the political element. His brother Noah Jahn told NBC News he didn’t think Joshua had any political views:

“He wasn’t interested in politics on either side as far as I knew,” Noah said.

He also claimed Joshua was not a marksman and didn’t have the skills to execute such a shooting. But the evidence contradicts that. Jahn had been obsessively researching ICE, had access to weapons, and chose a strategic rooftop location to open fire on a federal building.

This type of denial by family members is typical in politically motivated attacks where the narrative doesn't fit the media’s preferred script.

Adding another layer of complexity, Jahn’s mother, Sharon Jahn, has posted anti-Second Amendment rants on social media, aimed at Republican leaders like Gov. Greg Abbott and Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

In a 2022 post, she blamed Texas Republicans for mass shootings, accused them of taking “blood money” from the NRA, and even mocked their upcoming appearance at an NRA meeting:

“Hope you think of [gun deaths] 100% when you attend the NRA meeting in a few days,” she wrote.

She followed that up with posts quoting anti-gun song lyrics like “We can melt all the guns.”

The connection between radical anti-law enforcement views in the home and Jahn’s calculated attack on ICE raises serious questions about left-wing radicalization questions the mainstream media won’t ask.

This wasn’t an isolated event. The Dallas ICE attack follows:

  • The assassination of Charlie Kirk, gunned down earlier this month by a politically motivated attacker.

  • The attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, whose would-be killer was just found guilty in a Florida court.

  • The July 4 ICE ambush in Alvarado, Texas, where a leftist group used fireworks to lure agents out before opening fire, injuring a local police officer.

Groups like the Socialist Rifle Association and other far-left organizations have increasingly been connected to politically motivated violence a threat that continues to be ignored by legacy media and the Biden DOJ.

While Democrats fixate on vague definitions of “right-wing extremism,” the actual violence is coming from the other direction and ICE agents, Border Patrol officers, and law-abiding conservatives are paying the price.

Mayor Eric Johnson of Dallas, a Democrat-turned-Republican, summed it up best:

“There’s increasing tolerance for political violence as a way to bring about policy change, particularly on the Left. If we don’t do something about it, this won’t be the last one.”

This was not just an act of violence it was ideologically motivated domestic terrorism against federal agents, fueled by anti-ICE hysteria and radicalized narratives that portray law enforcement as villains.

And unless America wakes up to the growing threat of left-wing extremism, the attacks will only continue.
