Suspect in 23 Murders Re-Arrested by ICE After Release Under Biden-Harris Admin
Peruvian Gang Leader's Entry and Arrest Expose Dangerous Flaws in Border Policy
In a shocking revelation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials announced the arrest of Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, a notorious Peruvian gang leader accused of murdering 23 people. The 38-year-old criminal, who was apprehended in Endicott, New York, on Wednesday, had been released into the U.S. by the Biden-Harris administration just months earlier after illegally crossing the Texas-Mexico border.
ICE confirmed Torres-Navarro's arrest on Thursday evening, highlighting the grave threat posed by this dangerous individual. The arrest occurred approximately 150 miles northwest of New York City, where Torres-Navarro had been hiding after entering the U.S. in May. His release into the country, despite his criminal history, underscores the severe risks associated with the current administration's border policies.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) did not mince words in his condemnation of the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the situation. “It should alarm every American that a Peruvian gang leader, who has murdered 23 people, crossed our border and was released into the country,” Johnson stated. He called out the administration’s open-border policies, which he argued are "terrorizing our communities."
The Peruvian government had been actively seeking international assistance to track down and apprehend Torres-Navarro since early July. The gang leader, who heads a criminal organization known as "Los Killers," is notorious for extorting construction companies and orchestrating contract killings. His criminal enterprise recently escalated, with Torres-Navarro reportedly fleeing Peru after assassinating a retired police officer and a city official earlier this year.
Fact 1: Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, leader of “Los Killers,” is accused of 23 murders, including high-profile hits on law enforcement and public officials.
Fact 2: Torres-Navarro was released into the U.S. on May 16, despite his known criminal history, after crossing the Texas-Mexico border.
Fact 3: ICE officers in Buffalo arrested Torres-Navarro in New York, preventing him from using the state as a safe haven for his violent activities.
Thomas P. Brophy, ERO Buffalo Field Office Director, commended the efforts of ICE officers who brought Torres-Navarro into custody, ensuring that New York would not become a refuge for such a dangerous noncitizen. “Gianfranco Torres-Navarro poses a significant threat to our communities, and we won’t allow New York to be a safe haven for dangerous noncitizens,” Brophy stated in the news release.
The capture of Torres-Navarro is a stark reminder of the flaws in the current administration’s immigration policies, which allowed a man accused of 23 murders to enter and remain in the United States. The situation raises critical questions about national security and the federal government’s responsibility to protect American citizens from foreign criminals.
As this case continues to unfold, it’s clear that more must be done to secure our borders and ensure that dangerous individuals are not given free rein to enter the country. The safety of American communities depends on it.
