International Law Expert Slams ICC Over Netanyahu Arrest Warrant
Calls out hypocrisy and political bias in targeting Israel while ignoring global atrocities.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is facing sharp criticism for issuing an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Natasha Hausdorff, a British barrister and expert in international law, lambasted the decision during an appearance on Dan Senor’s Call Me Back podcast, describing it as politically motivated and factually baseless.
The ICC’s warrant accuses Netanyahu of “intentional starvation” and other alleged crimes. However, Hausdorff, representing UK Lawyers for Israel, revealed that the accusations are riddled with falsehoods. “We went through that public summary line by line,” she said, “and proved, line by line, that every phrase of every sentence was, in fact, false.”
Hausdorff highlighted how the ICC’s credibility is undermined by its selective focus. Major atrocities committed by leaders like Syria’s Bashar Assad, North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei have gone unaddressed:
Over 600,000 Syrians have been killed under Assad’s regime, with widespread use of chemical weapons and the complete destruction of Sunni villages.
North Korea continues to oversee mass starvation and human rights abuses under Kim Jong-un.
Iran’s regime suppresses dissent, tortures citizens, and exports terror, yet faces no ICC scrutiny.
“The ICC has never, not once, targeted any of these leaders,” Senor noted, pointing out the glaring double standard in how the institution operates.
Hausdorff further condemned the ICC for perpetuating “modern blood libels” against Israel, referring to claims that Israeli actions amount to genocide or apartheid. These allegations are baseless, she said, especially given that Arabs constitute 20% of Israel’s population and live as equal citizens. Meanwhile, much of the Arab world remains devoid of Jewish communities due to systemic persecution and expulsions.
“This is no different from medieval accusations against Jews, except now it has the modern face of hatred toward the Jewish state,” Hausdorff remarked.
Both the United States and Israel refused to ratify the Rome Statute, the treaty establishing the ICC, due to its politicization. “A particular political agenda crept into the drafting,” Hausdorff explained, citing how the ICC has manipulated international law to frame the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria as a war crime.
In response to the ICC’s overreach, members of Congress and the incoming U.S. administration are reportedly planning robust actions to curtail its influence. “We could wind up a year from now with the ICC being a shell of itself,” Senor predicted.
Hausdorff’s insights paint a picture of an institution mired in hypocrisy, where political agendas trump justice. While the ICC focuses its ire on Israel, the world’s worst offenders remain untouched, undermining the court’s credibility on the global stage.
