New Bill Seeks to Rename Greenland as ‘Red, White, and Blueland’

The legislation would authorize President Trump to acquire the island for national security purposes.

A House Republican has introduced a bold new bill that would not only authorize President Donald Trump to negotiate the acquisition of Greenland but also rename the island “Red, White, and Blueland” as a tribute to the American flag.

Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) put forward the legislation, arguing that the U.S. securing Greenland is a national security priority and a strategic move to expand American influence.

  • The bill mandates that all U.S. maps and records update the island’s name to “Red, White, and Blueland” within six months of its enactment.

  • This follows Trump’s previous interest in acquiring Greenland, which he cited as critical for national defense and economic expansion.

  • Denmark, which controls Greenland, has previously resisted selling the territory but has shown openness to an increased U.S. military presence.

“America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland,” Carter declared. “President Trump has correctly identified the purchase of what is now Greenland as a national security priority, and we will proudly welcome its people to join the freest nation to ever exist when our Negotiator-in-Chief inks this monumental deal.”

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) has also introduced similar legislation, titled the “Make Greenland Great Again Act,” which aims to push negotiations with Denmark. Though still in committee, the bill has gained significant Republican support.

This move aligns with broader Republican efforts to advance Trump’s foreign policy agenda. Other proposals include renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” and reclaiming control over the Panama Canal. While these ideas have yet to gain traction in Congress, Trump’s administration has already made progress in renaming the U.S. Continental Shelf region as the Gulf of America, with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum implementing the change.

As Trump continues to solidify his America-first strategy, these initiatives signal a renewed push for U.S. global influence. Whether Greenland soon to be “Red, White, and Blueland” becomes the next addition to American soil remains to be seen.
