Graham Questions Biden's Capability, Calls for Cognitive Tests for Succession Line
The South Carolina senator insists on neurological exams for Biden and successors amid national security concerns.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed serious concerns over President Joe Biden’s capacity to continue serving as president, suggesting that both Biden and those in the presidential line of succession should undergo cognitive tests. Graham’s remarks came during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” where he addressed the fallout from Biden’s recent debate performance.
Key points to consider:
Graham voiced national security concerns regarding Biden’s ability to serve as commander in chief, particularly in light of recent global events.
He called for cognitive tests for Biden and regular neurological exams for those in the line of succession.
Graham suggested that all future presidential nominees should include neurological exams as part of their health evaluations.
“Most of us are concerned about the national security implications of this debate about President Biden’s health,” Graham stated. He highlighted that while Democrats are focused on Biden winning the election, his primary concern is Biden’s capacity to act as commander in chief in the immediate future.
Referencing recent events such as the Hamas attack on Israel and Biden’s interview with the special counsel, Graham emphasized the urgency of the situation. “I want those tapes released,” he said, referring to the interview tapes, adding, “What I would like to see is President Biden take a cognitive test. I think everybody going forward in the line of succession should have a neurological exam on a regular basis.”
Graham argued that ensuring the fitness of those in the presidential line of succession is crucial for national security. He proposed that future presidential candidates undergo and publicly release results from comprehensive health exams, including neurological tests.
“We need to make sure that the people who are going to be in the line of succession are capable of being commander in chief under dire circumstances,” he insisted. Graham voiced his concern that both allies and adversaries might perceive Biden as compromised, thus jeopardizing national security. “This is a dangerous time for the American people to have somebody at the ship – leading the ship of state who seems to be compromised.”
Reiterating his stance, Graham said, “I am very concerned that this man is not capable of being commander in chief for four more months,” underscoring the potential risks associated with Biden’s leadership in the current global climate.
