Golden Globes Host Calls Out Hollywood For Failing To Stop Trump’s Re-Election

Nikki Glaser roasts celebrities for their political activism flop in the 2024 election.

Comedian Nikki Glaser set the tone for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards with a no-holds-barred opening monologue that took direct aim at Hollywood’s biggest stars and their failed political activism. In a moment reminiscent of Ricky Gervais’ legendary roast of the industry, Glaser pointed out the entertainment elite’s inability to influence the 2024 election, despite their vocal support for Kamala Harris.

“I am not here to roast you tonight,” Glaser joked, before delivering the punchline. “How could I really? You are all so famous. So talented. So powerful. I mean, you could really do anything—except tell the country who to vote for. But it’s okay, you’ll get them next time. If there is one. I’m scared.”

The jab drew laughs and gasps from the crowd, as Glaser highlighted the glaring disconnect between Hollywood’s political messaging and real-world results.

Glaser didn’t stop there. She also took a swipe at Hollywood’s obsession with weight-loss drugs, calling the event “Ozempic’s biggest night,” a reference to the controversial weight-loss injection that has taken the industry by storm.

She then poked fun at Hollywood’s dark history of sexual harassment, recalling the industry’s numerous #MeToo scandals. “I gotta say, this feels like I finally made it,” she said. “I’m in a room full of producers at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and this time all of my clothes are on. So, yeah, it was worth it.”

Ahead of the awards show, Glaser had warned that while she would bring her signature roast style, she wasn’t planning to go as scorched-earth as Ricky Gervais. “This isn’t my last Golden Globes, this is my first one,” she explained, signaling that she wasn’t looking to burn bridges just yet.

However, her monologue proved that she wasn’t afraid to call out the industry’s self-importance, delivering a sharp critique of Hollywood’s political failures with just the right amount of humor.

As Trump prepares to take office once again, Glaser’s remarks serve as a stark reminder to Hollywood: despite all their influence, America wasn’t listening.
