Internal Memo Exposes Democrat Lies About Tulsi Gabbard Firing Controversy
Documents reveal inspector general approved dismissal despite Democrats' false accusations against Trump administration.

The Left’s latest attempt to smear Trump administration leadership has once again unraveled under the weight of the facts. Internal memos obtained this week directly contradict Democrat claims that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard acted unlawfully by firing a senior official without proper authorization.
Democrats had accused Gabbard of unilaterally dismissing Acting General Counsel Stephanie McDonald without consulting Tamara Johnson, the acting Inspector General of the Intelligence Community. But documents now show that Johnson not only knew about the termination but explicitly approved it.
In a May 30 memo to Johnson, Gabbard wrote: “You agreed to terminate Ms. McDonald’s employment and volunteered to notify Ms. McDonald of the decision in coordination with ODNI Human Resources.” A separate May 20 memo details a prior video call where Johnson, the ODNI Chief Operating Officer, and ODNI’s top lawyer discussed the dismissal, during which Johnson confirmed her support for the decision.
Despite not legally needing Johnson’s approval to fire a probationary employee, Gabbard still sought Johnson’s input out of professional courtesy a fact conveniently ignored by Democrats eager to fabricate a scandal.
The deeper issue exposed by these memos goes far beyond a single personnel decision:
Johnson’s office repeatedly resisted Trump administration orders to eliminate divisive DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) language from official materials. While Gabbard’s office complied within five days, Johnson took over a month for physical signage and nearly two months for online content.
Johnson refused to implement Trump’s DOGE workforce optimization programs that offered voluntary resignations and early retirements to streamline the bloated federal bureaucracy.
Employees in Johnson's office were reportedly instructed to deprioritize Republican congressional inquiries, further politicizing a supposedly impartial watchdog office.
Johnson failed to display official portraits of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance for months after the new administration took office, a glaring display of partisan obstruction.
Misuse of taxpayer funds was rampant, including $10,000 spent on a decorative rug for Johnson’s office and stockpiling unnecessary branded merchandise, which had no authorized purpose.
Perhaps most disturbingly, Johnson's office violated Intelligence Community policy by storing hundreds of branded thumb drives inside classified facilities a major breach of protocol.
This isn’t just bureaucratic incompetence it’s naked defiance of elected leadership by entrenched swamp operatives. The Inspector General’s office, meant to serve as an independent watchdog, instead became another weaponized branch of the deep state, openly resisting presidential authority while wasting taxpayer money.
Once again, Democrats rushed to create a scandal where none existed, using outright falsehoods to attack an administration committed to draining Washington’s corrupt establishment. The facts show Tulsi Gabbard followed proper protocols while attempting to root out politicization in our intelligence agencies.
