Florida School Board Chair Apologizes for Comments on Hulk Hogan’s Death
Sarah Rockwell faces backlash for inflammatory remarks on wrestling legend’s passing.

Sarah Rockwell, chair of the Alachua County School Board in Florida, issued a public apology after making inflammatory Facebook comments celebrating the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, calling him “one less MAGA in the world.”
The comment, which quickly went viral, read: “Oh did Hulk die? I didn’t even know. Good. One less MAGA in the world.” In a follow-up, she wrote, “[H]e worked with the McMahons to union bust professional wrestling. [H]e’s never been a good guy. I feel absolutely nothing about his death.”
Rockwell’s remarks ignited widespread criticism, with parents and community members accusing her of exhibiting blatant political bias and poor judgment. Facing mounting pressure, Rockwell deleted the comments and posted an apology on her official school board account.
“A few days ago, I made a cruel and flippant comment from my personal Facebook account on a friend’s post regarding the death of Hulk Hogan,” she wrote. “I deeply regret making that comment and have since removed it. I want to make it very clear that I never have and never will wish harm on anyone regardless of whether we share political views.”
Rockwell continued “I also sincerely apologize for the way my comment has eroded confidence in my ability to represent all students, families, and staff in Alachua County. I want to assure all of you that the best interests of our children and our public schools are at the center of everything I do as a board member.”
Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, died Thursday at the age of 71 after suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida, home. Widely recognized as one of professional wrestling’s most iconic figures, Hogan was a six-time WWE champion and two-time Royal Rumble winner. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice first in 2005 and again in 2020 as part of the NWO faction.
Hogan was also a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, endorsing him at the 2024 Republican National Convention by ripping off his shirt to reveal a “Trump Vance Make America Great Again” tank top a moment that cemented his place as a cultural figure aligned with conservative America.
The controversy around Rockwell’s comments could have broader implications. Critics argue that her political bias and disrespect for a well-known American figure like Hogan undermine her ability to represent all students fairly. Fox News Digital has reached out to both Rockwell and Alachua County Public Schools for additional comment.
As the backlash grows, many are questioning whether Rockwell’s apology will be enough to restore trust among families and community members.
