Florida Exploring Legal Options to Block Andrew Tate from Entering the State

DeSantis Takes Firm Stance Against Notorious Influencer Accused of Human Trafficking.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that the state is actively exploring legal measures to prevent controversial influencer Andrew Tate from remaining in Florida following his arrival in Fort Lauderdale. Tate, who faces serious allegations of sex trafficking, rape, and organized crime in Romania, landed in the Sunshine State alongside his brother, Tristan, on a private jet.

DeSantis, speaking at a press conference, made it clear that Tate’s history of alleged criminal behavior does not align with Florida’s values. “Our attorney general, James Uthmeier, is looking into what state hooks and jurisdiction we may have to be able to deal with this,” DeSantis stated. “But the reality is no, Florida is not a place where you’re welcome with that type of conduct.”

Key Points:

  • Legal Inquiry Underway: Attorney General James Uthmeier confirmed his office is working with state law enforcement to “conduct a preliminary inquiry into these individuals.” He emphasized Florida’s “zero tolerance for human trafficking and violence against women.”

  • Romanian Charges and Travel Ban: The Tate brothers were arrested in 2022 in Romania on charges of “rape, human trafficking, money laundering, and starting an organized crime group.” They were only recently permitted to travel, but Romanian authorities stressed that they must still appear before judicial authorities when summoned.

  • Trump Administration’s Involvement Denied: President Donald Trump addressed the situation at a separate press conference, denying knowledge of any U.S. pressure on Romania to lift the Tates' travel restrictions. “I had no knowledge of this,” Trump said, distancing his administration from the controversial decision.

Andrew Tate’s arrival in Florida has stirred widespread debate, particularly among conservatives. The influencer, known for his inflammatory views on women and relationships, has been a polarizing figure on the Right. While some have defended his free speech, others, including prominent voices like Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro, have been vocal in their criticism.

Shapiro previously addressed Tate’s controversies, warning conservatives not to align themselves with someone whose conduct and rhetoric are fundamentally at odds with traditional American values. “Any organization or host who embraces him is engaged in far worse than simple grift,” Shapiro said last month.

Governor DeSantis' strong stance against Tate aligns with his broader focus on law and order. As Florida’s legal team digs into potential avenues to block Tate from settling in the state, the move could set a precedent for how states handle high-profile figures with troubling legal histories.

For now, the message from Florida is crystal clear: “If any of these alleged crimes trigger Florida jurisdiction, we will hold them accountable.”
