Fetterman backs Trump’s nominees and reminds Democrats how democracy works

Pennsylvania senator signals bipartisan cooperation despite left-wing backlash.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) is breaking from his party and signaling his support for several of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees. Speaking with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Fetterman made it clear that he intends to vote for Trump’s picks, stating bluntly, “That’s the way democracy works.”

During the interview, Fetterman revealed that he has already met with many of Trump’s nominees, including former Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) for Secretary of Transportation, and plans to continue meeting with others. His willingness to engage with Trump’s team has drawn outrage from his own party, but the Pennsylvania senator is unapologetic.

“I got a lot of blowback just, you know, even to meet with them,” Fetterman said. “To me, I see that as just doing my job.”

Despite the left’s outrage, Fetterman has confirmed that he will vote for several of Trump’s top picks, including:

  • Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for Secretary of State

  • Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for U.N. Ambassador

  • Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture

  • Sean Duffy for Secretary of Transportation

Other nominees, including Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, are still under review, but Fetterman made it clear that he is open to working with Trump’s administration.

Fetterman’s statements serve as a much-needed reality check for Democrats who refuse to accept the results of the election. “Trump won, and now they’re going to run the table,” he reminded his party, stressing that it’s time to acknowledge the results and move forward.

For years, Democrats have pushed a “my way or the highway” approach, attacking anyone who dares to work across the aisle. But as Fetterman rightfully points out, that’s not how democracy works. Trump won, and his administration has every right to appoint its team.

The real question is whether other Democrats will follow Fetterman’s lead or continue their obstructionist tactics in a desperate bid to cling to power.
