Green Groups Lose Nearly $70M as EPA, DOGE Cut Biden-Era Grants

Trump Administration Ends Wasteful Spending on Radical Environmentalists.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have pulled the plug on nearly $70 million in grants handed out to left-wing environmental groups during the Biden administration. The funding cuts come as part of a broader effort under President Donald Trump to root out wasteful spending and restore fiscal responsibility in Washington.

The Biden administration initially awarded a staggering $77.1 million in grants to a web of environmental and activist organizations. However, with $67.4 million of those funds yet to be distributed, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stepped in to freeze the payments. According to Zeldin, these cuts represent another crucial step in dismantling the Biden-era practice of funneling taxpayer money to political allies under the guise of environmentalism.

  • Targeting Waste and Fraud: Zeldin, working closely with DOGE, has been combing through EPA spending programs to identify waste, fraud, and abuse. He declared, “We will make sure every penny spent by EPA goes towards protecting human health and the environment, and Powering the Great American Comeback.”

  • Uncovering Massive Abuses: One of the most shocking revelations involves $2 billion slated for Power Forward Communities, a green group connected to failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. The group, which reported just $100 in revenue in 2023, was set to receive funding that was 20 million times its annual revenue a glaring red flag for potential corruption.

  • Restoring Accountability: The EPA chief has been aggressively working to claw back $20 billion in what he described as “gold bars” hurriedly distributed by the Biden administration to its friends and political allies before leaving office. Zeldin's efforts underscore a stark contrast between the current administration’s focus on accountability and the previous administration’s blatant favoritism.

Zeldin’s no-nonsense approach to fiscal stewardship is a refreshing change. His leadership at the EPA is not just about saving money but about ensuring that federal funds serve genuine environmental and public health needs, not partisan agendas. The cuts to these green group grants are a clear message: under Trump’s watch, taxpayer dollars will not be used to prop up radical, ineffective, or fraudulent organizations.
