Elon Musk to Join Netanyahu at Congressional Address as Special Guest

Elon Musk will attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s joint address to Congress this Wednesday afternoon as a guest of the prime minister. This high-profile appearance underscores Musk's growing involvement in international affairs and his support for Israel.

Last year, Musk and Netanyahu visited Kfar Aza, an Israeli kibbutz where civilians were tragically massacred and taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on October 7. The visit left a profound impact on Musk. “It was jarring to see the scene of the massacres as well as to see the short film afterwards that showed more of innocent people getting killed,” Musk said during an X Space conversation with Netanyahu after their visit.

Musk did not hold back in expressing his horror. “It was troubling in that movie, especially to see the joy experienced by people that were killing innocent civilians, including kids and babies and defenseless people essentially,” Musk added. “It’s one thing if, obviously, if civilians die accidentally, but it’s another thing to revel in the joy of killing civilians. That’s evil.”

Netanyahu’s speech, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. EST, is part of his ongoing effort to secure bipartisan support for Israel's war against Hamas and to address Iranian aggression. Notably, fifty lawmakers, mostly Democrats, plan to boycott the speech, highlighting the deep political divides surrounding the issue.

In a significant humanitarian gesture, Musk announced on Tuesday that he had deployed Starlink, his satellite internet service, to a Gazan hospital with the support of both Israel and the United Arab Emirates. This move aims to ensure that vital communication capabilities remain operational amid the conflict, showcasing Musk’s commitment to aiding civilians affected by the violence.
