Democrat Pollster Urges Biden to Resign After Incoherent Interview

Nate Silver calls for transition to Harris following Biden’s troubling performance on ABC.

Democratic pollster Nate Silver has called on President Joe Biden to resign and transfer power to Vice President Kamala Harris after an “incoherent” interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos. Silver’s remarks come in response to a clip from the interview where Biden struggled to answer questions coherently, raising concerns about his capability to lead.

Key points to consider:

  • Silver criticized Biden’s performance, highlighting his inability to clearly answer questions about the recent debate and a New York Times poll.

  • The pollster suggested Biden should plan to transition power to Harris within the next 30-60 days.

  • Biden’s faltering responses during the interview have intensified scrutiny over his fitness for office.

During the interview, Stephanopoulos asked Biden if he watched the debate afterward. Biden’s response was muddled: “I don’t think I did,” he said. When pressed about his experience during the debate, Biden gave a long, confusing answer, misrepresenting a New York Times poll and admitting, “I just had a bad night.”

Silver took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his concerns, stating, “This is a pretty incoherent answer including a non-sequitur complaining about a New York Times poll, which he incorrectly claims had him down 10 points before the debate (it was actually 3 or 4 points, depending on which version you look at).”

Silver initially hesitated to publicly call for Biden’s resignation but has since made his stance clear: “I wimped out in today’s column and deleted a line saying he should formulate a plan to transition the presidency to Harris within 30-60 days, but I’m there now. Something is clearly wrong here.” He emphasized that Biden does not appear to be in command, a significant issue for the Commander in Chief.

Silver’s comments reflect a growing concern among Democrats about Biden’s ability to effectively lead the country, particularly as the 2024 election approaches. His suggestion that Biden should transition power to Harris underscores the urgency of addressing these issues within the Democratic Party.

As Biden faces increased pressure from within his own party, the debate over his fitness for office is likely to intensify, raising questions about the future of his presidency and the direction of the Democratic Party.
