Concert For Carolina Raises $24.5 Million for Hurricane Helene Victims

Country stars rally to bring relief to devastated southeastern communities.

The Concert For Carolina, a massive benefit event held in Charlotte, North Carolina, has pulled off an incredible feat, raising $24.5 million to help victims of Hurricane Helene. The event, spearheaded by country music powerhouses Luke Bryan and Eric Church, drew thousands and featured an all-star lineup of performers, including James Taylor, Keith Urban, and Billy Strings. Every dollar raised will go directly to support the thousands affected by the deadly storm, which has left communities across the southeastern U.S. reeling.

The impact of Hurricane Helene has been nothing short of catastrophic, with over 230 lives lost and entire neighborhoods flattened. In response, Church took the initiative to not only raise funds but also announced a direct effort to provide housing. Through his Chief Cares Foundation, Church unveiled a new initiative called Blueprint for the Blue Ridge, which will build and donate 100 homes for families in Avery County and other hard-hit regions.

  • 100 new homes: Church’s foundation plans to build and distribute these homes to help displaced families stay close to their communities.

  • All proceeds dedicated: Every dollar from ticket sales will go to assist in the recovery process, split evenly between the foundations of Eric Church and Luke Combs.

  • Community-centered recovery: Combs and Church emphasized the importance of keeping communities intact, ensuring that families have shelter and can actively participate in rebuilding efforts.

“This is as much about restoring the community spirit as it is about putting roofs over people’s heads,” Church said. His words resonated with many in attendance, especially as the tragedy hit so close to home for both artists, with Church spending part of the year in Banner Elk and Combs being an alum of Appalachian State University. Both men had been inundated with calls and texts from friends and family directly impacted by the storm, which inspired the two to coordinate a concert to support recovery efforts in the region.

In addition to the concert’s proceeds, contributions have poured in from other high-profile names in country music and beyond. Dolly Parton, Jason Aldean, and Morgan Wallen made substantial donations, while legendary rock band Metallica also joined the cause, donating $100,000 to help the affected areas. The flood of support, both in donations and in person at the concert, highlights the outpouring of solidarity from the music world.

Reflecting on the devastation, Church shared, “It was disbelief. These are areas I knew, and I didn’t even recognize them in the photos. I don’t think I’ve come to grips with it yet.” His and Combs’ commitment to help rebuild goes beyond dollars it’s about restoring a sense of home and normalcy for people facing a life-altering event.

Luke Combs echoed the sentiment, describing how the disaster had affected him and those around him. “I called Eric and said, ‘Let’s do what we do best and bring people together for something bigger than ourselves.’” And together, they did just that, creating an unforgettable event that will have a lasting impact on families struggling to rebuild.

With $24.5 million raised and a promise of 100 homes, the Concert For Carolina has delivered hope in a dark time. This monumental effort shows the profound impact that community, music, and shared purpose can have on recovery and resilience.
