Comey Indicted for Lying to Congress, Declares ‘I Am Not Afraid’

Former FBI director charged with obstruction and false statements in Trump-Russia probe fallout.

James Comey, the disgraced former FBI Director and central figure in the Trump–Russia collusion hoax, has been formally indicted for lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding a stunning legal development that confirms what millions of Americans suspected all along: he weaponized the FBI and got caught.

Comey was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury just days before the statute of limitations expired, following a long-running investigation into his September 30, 2020 testimony before Congress regarding his handling of the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane probe into Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

The indictment accuses Comey of:

  • Making false statements under oath, including denying that he authorized an anonymous FBI source who leaked sensitive information.

  • Obstructing a congressional investigation into the handling and public disclosure of those leaks.

In a bizarre Instagram video, Comey responded not with humility but with a dose of grandstanding.

“I’m not afraid,” he said. “We will not live on our knees... Fear is the tool of a tyrant.”

Comey is playing the martyr, framing his legal troubles as a noble price for “standing up to Trump.” But this isn’t about politics it’s about perjury and obstruction, plain and simple.

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to react to the news:

“Whether you like Corrupt James Comey or not... HE LIED!” Trump wrote. “It is not a complex lie... but IMPORTANT.”

Trump celebrated the indictment but acknowledged the irony that the case will be presided over by District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff, a Biden appointee.

“He knew exactly what he was saying, and that it was a very serious and far-reaching lie for which a very big price must be paid!” Trump said.

Comey has hired former U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald, best known for his prosecution of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the controversial Valerie Plame CIA leak case. Fitzgerald insists Comey is innocent:

“Jim Comey denies the charges filed today in their entirety,” Fitzgerald said. “We look forward to vindicating him in the courtroom.”

But vindication is a long shot, given the weight of the indictment and the damning timeline.

Let’s not forget the political firestorm Comey ignited as FBI Director:

  • He signed off on surveillance warrants using the discredited Steele Dossier, funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

  • He leaked memos to the media to trigger the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

  • He testified to Congress under oath—and now stands accused of lying during that testimony.

Comey, once portrayed by the media as a beacon of integrity, is now the first former FBI director in U.S. history to face criminal charges for obstruction and lying to Congress.

This is not just about Comey—it’s about restoring faith in our institutions. The FBI under his leadership became a political weapon, and now, accountability is finally catching up.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Comey is expected to surrender on Friday. His arraignment is scheduled for October 9.

Meanwhile, Fox News Digital has also reported that former CIA Director John Brennan is under criminal investigation, signaling that the fallout from the Trump–Russia deception is far from over.

The message is clear no one no matter how powerful is above the law.
