California judge mandates preferred pronouns for convicted rapist in court
Despite serious charges, the court prioritizes the inmate's gender identity over victims' concerns
In yet another alarming example of California's radical policies taking precedence over common sense, a judge has ruled that convicted rapist Tremaine Carroll must be referred to by "she/her" pronouns in court. Carroll, a biological male who identifies as a woman, faces charges of two felony counts of forcible rape and one count of dissuading a witness.
The ruling, which insists that victims and legal representatives use Carroll’s preferred pronouns, has sparked outrage among prosecutors and victim advocates who see this as yet another instance of prioritizing political correctness over justice.
Serious Allegations: Carroll was transferred to the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla after self-identifying as a woman under California's Senate Bill 132. This legislation allows inmates to choose prison facilities based on their stated gender identity without requiring any psychological or medical evaluations.
Victims' Trauma Ignored: Madera County District Attorney Sally Moreno expressed concerns that forcing victims to refer to their alleged assailant as "she" adds unnecessary confusion and trauma. "It’s confusing to the jury," Moreno stated, emphasizing that California law defines rape specifically as a crime committed by a man.
Exploiting the System: Carroll’s extensive criminal history includes convictions for grand theft, kidnapping, robbery, and sexual assault, dating back to 1988. Despite this history, Carroll was transferred to a women’s facility in August 2021.
Supervising Deputy District Attorney Eric DuTemple criticized the court's decision, stating, "It’s absolutely insane that a victim would have to get on the stand and police their pronoun usage while trying to recount one of the scariest moments of their lives."
This case highlights the dangerous implications of California’s Senate Bill 132, where safety concerns are brushed aside to accommodate gender ideology. Critics argue that the law is being exploited, placing vulnerable women in correctional facilities at severe risk.
While the California judicial system seems intent on upholding the dignity of violent offenders, it’s clear that the real victims — the survivors of these horrific crimes — are being overlooked.
This is yet another reminder of the destructive consequences of radical left-wing policies that prioritize virtue-signaling over the safety and rights of law-abiding citizens.
