Pam Bondi Warns California and Minnesota Over Trans Sports Policies

The Attorney General signals legal action and funding cuts for states that defy Title IX and endanger women’s rights and safety.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is taking a bold stand against radical gender policies, placing California and Minnesota “on notice” for their ongoing violations of Title IX protections and if they don’t course-correct, they could face the same consequences Maine is now dealing with.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Bondi made it crystal clear: liberal states that allow biological males into female sports and prisons will no longer get a free pass. The Justice Department has already filed a civil lawsuit against Maine, and now the heat is turning up on two of the left’s biggest strongholds.

“Minnesota, California multiple states,” Bondi said. “They are the top two that should be on notice, because we have been communicating with them.”

This comes on the heels of disturbing revelations about Maine’s prison system, where Bondi confirmed that the state is housing a 6'1", 245-pound male murderer in a women’s correctional facility. The individual, who brutally stabbed his parents and the family dog to death, now identifies as a woman and is being held among female inmates.

“We don’t want to give any more money to the Department of Corrections in Maine if that’s how they’re going to act,” Bondi stated. “We’re going in a different direction in our funding.”

Key points from Bondi’s announcement:

  • The Department of Justice is actively investigating Minnesota and California for policies that violate Title IX by allowing males in women’s sports and prisons.

  • Federal funding has been cut off from Maine, with Bondi confirming that the administration is redirecting grants.

  • Bondi emphasized that the DOJ and HHS held multiple meetings with Maine before taking legal action, but the state refused to comply.

  • The Attorney General made it clear: this isn’t about ideology, it’s about protecting girls and women their privacy, their safety, and their right to fair competition.

This decisive action reflects growing national frustration over far-left gender policies that put ideology ahead of common sense and ahead of biological reality.

Let’s not forget what’s at stake. Title IX was established to protect women, not erase them. When states like California and Minnesota prioritize activist politics over safety and fairness, they’re not just breaking the law they’re betraying the very people Title IX was meant to help.

And Bondi isn’t backing down.

“We don’t want to be suing people. We want them to comply with the law.”

With President Trump supporting a return to real protections for women, this push from Bondi signals a major shift away from the Biden-era permissiveness that’s allowed this crisis to fester unchecked.

If states won’t voluntarily do the right thing, it’s clear this administration will force them to through lawsuits, lost funding, and public accountability.
