Pam Bondi Vows Legal Action Against Comey and Letitia James

After indictments dismissed on technicality, Bondi says the fight to hold corrupt officials accountable is far from over.

Former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James may have dodged legal accountability for now. But U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi made it clear this week: the Trump administration isn't backing down.

Speaking in Memphis on Monday at a “Safe Task Force” event, Bondi laid out her next steps after a U.S. District Judge dismissed criminal charges against both Comey and James, citing a procedural technicality. Bondi made one thing crystal clear: justice is still coming.

“We’ll be taking all available legal action, including an immediate appeal, to hold Letitia James and James Comey accountable for their unlawful conduct,” Bondi said. “I’m not worried about someone who has been charged with a very serious crime. His alleged actions were a betrayal of public trust.”

The judge’s decision focused not on the charges themselves—but on the appointment of prosecutor Lindsey Halligan, a Trump legal aide who led both cases. According to the ruling, Halligan had not been lawfully installed as interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, making the indictments “defective.”

Here’s what’s at stake:

  • James Comey was indicted in September for making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation related to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane probe a politically motivated smear campaign targeting President Trump’s 2016 campaign under the guise of “Russian collusion.”

  • Letitia James was indicted in October for bank and mortgage fraud, allegedly lying on a home loan application to secure favorable terms saving her nearly $19,000 by misrepresenting a Virginia home as a secondary residence.

Both cases were tossed not on the merits, but because a judge sided with defense arguments that Halligan's appointment lacked proper authority. But the Trump team isn’t letting this go.

Bondi defended Halligan unequivocally: “We have made Lindsay Halligan a special U.S. attorney so she is in court, she can fight in court just like she was, and we believe we will be successful on appeal.” She added, “Shame on them for not wanting her in office.”

The left is already trying to spin this dismissal as a victory, but it’s nothing more than legal gymnastics to protect their own. The fact remains: Comey misled Congress during a politically charged investigation, and Letitia James a sitting Attorney General allegedly committed financial fraud for personal gain.

Let’s be honest. If either of these figures had an “R” next to their name, the media would be howling for prison time. But because they serve the Democratic machine, they get cover, excuses, and, conveniently, procedural loopholes.

This legal battle is about more than two corrupt officials it’s about ending the two-tier justice system that protects left-wing elites while targeting conservatives. It’s about accountability, and it’s about restoring public trust in institutions that have been weaponized against the American people.

Bondi’s relentless pursuit of justice should be applauded not undermined. And as the appeals move forward, Americans should keep a close eye on how the judiciary handles a case that cuts to the heart of corruption inside the highest levels of government.
