Pam Bondi Slams Blumenthal for Lying About Military Service

Senate showdown erupts as Bondi defends integrity while exposing Democrat’s phony Vietnam claims.

Tempers flared during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday when U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi directly confronted Senator Richard Blumenthal, calling out his long-standing lie about serving in Vietnam a scandal that’s haunted the Connecticut Democrat for over a decade.

Blumenthal attempted to grill Bondi over the lobbying efforts of her former firm, Ballard Partners, in a routine line of questioning. But Bondi was having none of it.

“Sen. Blumenthal, I cannot believe that you would accuse me of impropriety when you lied about your military service,” she fired back. “You lied you admitted you lied to be elected a U.S. senator.”

As Blumenthal fumbled to respond, Bondi doubled down. “How dare you? I’m a career prosecutor. Don’t you ever challenge my integrity… Do not question my ability to be fair and impartial.”

Her response stopped the hearing cold. And rightly so Blumenthal’s military deception is well-documented. In 2010, while running for Senate, he repeatedly claimed to have served “in Vietnam,” despite never having deployed there. Once caught, he claimed he had merely “misspoken” in a handful of speeches an excuse that fooled no one.

Let’s recall the facts:

  • Blumenthal served in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1970–1976, safely stationed stateside.

  • He repeatedly referred to “when I served in Vietnam” at public events, including veteran ceremonies.

  • The New York Times exposed the deception, forcing Blumenthal to admit the truth.

“I take full responsibility,” Blumenthal said in 2010, blaming “a few misplaced words” a weak defense that has followed him ever since.

Despite the embarrassment, Blumenthal has managed to cling to power with the help of a compliant media and his deep roots in a blue state. But Bondi’s confrontation reminded the American public that Democrats like Blumenthal don’t just lie they lie to get elected, and then try to lecture others about ethics.

It’s a classic move from the Left: smear and distract when the heat turns up. Blumenthal questioned Bondi about conversations with Brian Ballard, the head of Ballard Partners, in connection to a corporate merger a line of questioning that appeared more like a political trap than a legitimate inquiry. But when confronted with his own integrity failure, he bristled and deflected.

The American people are tired of this double standard one where conservatives are dragged through the mud for nothing, while Democrats with actual credibility issues are handed a pass.

Bondi’s refusal to back down in the face of an obvious smear attempt should be applauded. It’s exactly the kind of fight Republicans need to bring to every hearing, every debate, and every election from here on out.
