Bill Maher Calls Out Christian Genocide in Nigeria

In under a minute, a liberal icon did what the mainstream media refuses to do tell the truth about the slaughter of Christians.

It took Bill Maher just 47 seconds to do what legacy media outlets and global “human rights” organizations have refused to do for years speak out against the mass genocide of Christians in Nigeria. And shockingly, the self-proclaimed liberal and frequent critic of Christianity did it on live TV to roaring applause.

On the September 26 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the HBO host stunned his audience when he addressed the brutal reality of Christian persecution in Nigeria. “They’ve killed over 100,000 since 2009. They’ve burned 18,000 churches,” Maher said, referencing the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram and other jihadist factions terrorizing the region.

Then, in a line that cut straight through the left’s carefully constructed narrative machine, Maher added:
“This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza. Where are kids protesting this?”

His comments, fiery and unexpected, instantly went viral drawing widespread attention to an issue most of the media has deliberately ignored for over a decade. For all the noise about “human rights” and “genocide” in carefully curated headlines, the systematic slaughter of Christians in Africa barely gets a mention.

Here are the facts the media won’t tell you:

  • Nigeria is the most dangerous place on Earth to be a Christian, with over 5,000 Christians murdered in 2022 alone, according to Open Doors USA.

  • Radical Islamist groups have displaced over 3 million people, with villages routinely razed and churches burned to the ground.

  • The Nigerian government backed by billions in foreign aid has failed to contain the violence, while global elites look the other way.

The silence is deafening. Imagine the outrage if 100,000 members of any other religious group were systematically hunted, raped, and butchered in broad daylight. CNN would run 24/7 coverage. The UN would hold emergency meetings. Hollywood would light up with hashtags and red carpet ribbons.

But when it’s Christians especially in Africa suddenly there’s no headline, no march, no social justice crusade.

Maher’s moment of truth-telling should not be brushed aside simply because he’s not a conservative. In fact, that’s what made it more powerful. When even prominent liberals are calling out the hypocrisy, you know the moral rot has gone too deep.

This isn’t just about Nigeria. It’s about a culture that’s increasingly hostile to Christianity and willing to excuse or ignore mass violence when it doesn’t fit their narrative.
