Biden Holds Netanyahu Responsible for Delayed Hostage Negotiations After American Death
As Biden Points Fingers at Israel, Hamas Continues Its Terrorist Reign with Hostage Murders.
President Joe Biden has shifted blame onto Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the faltering negotiations to free over 100 hostages held by Hamas, a terrorist group known for its brutality and lack of regard for human life. The president, who recently returned from a lengthy vacation, claimed that Netanyahu isn’t doing enough to secure the hostages’ release, despite Israel's ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas and rescue its citizens.
Biden’s comment that negotiations are “very close” and his flippant assertion that “hope springs eternal” only add to the frustration. When asked directly if Netanyahu is doing enough, Biden’s simple “No” response sparked outrage and confusion.
An Israeli official fired back, pointing out the absurdity of Biden’s critique. Israel has reportedly agreed to U.S. proposals as early as May, while Hamas has consistently refused any deal that doesn't fit their terms. The official rightly questioned why Biden is not pressuring Hamas, especially after the recent brutal murder of six hostages, including an American citizen, Hersh Goldberg-Polin.
Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American who was taken captive during Hamas’s October 7 attack, was found dead along with five others in a tunnel under Rafah, a city in southern Gaza. The bodies were discovered by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops, who reported that the hostages were killed shortly before being found. Adding to the horror, Hamas released a propaganda video of the murdered hostages, clearly attempting to exploit the situation to force a ceasefire favorable to their terrorist agenda.
This isn’t the first time the Biden administration has shown a lack of support for Israel’s military efforts. Both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have previously pressured Netanyahu to halt operations in Rafah, despite the city being a stronghold for Hamas and the site of hostage rescues. In March, Harris went so far as to label any major operation in Rafah a “huge mistake.”
In May, Biden doubled down on this weak-kneed approach by threatening to withhold weapons shipments critical to Israel’s defense if they moved forward with military actions in Rafah. This came despite Hamas’s ongoing terror campaign against Israeli civilians.
The situation raises serious questions about Biden’s commitment to Israel, one of America’s closest allies, and whether he fully grasps the gravity of the threat posed by Hamas. As the Biden administration continues to waver, Hamas grows bolder, leaving the hostages' fate in further jeopardy.
