Biden-Harris Administration Attempts to Take Credit for Sinwar’s Death Despite Limiting Israel

After months of pressuring Israel to stand down, Biden and Harris attempt to claim victory in the fight against Hamas.

The Biden-Harris administration is now attempting to take credit for the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), despite months of hindering Israel’s military efforts. In a recent statement, President Joe Biden claimed that U.S. intelligence and special operations forces played a crucial role in helping Israel locate Sinwar, who was eliminated earlier this week in southern Gaza.

“I directed Special Operations personnel and our intelligence professionals to work side-by-side with their Israeli counterparts to help locate and track Sinwar,” Biden boasted, attributing much of the success to American involvement. The administration even sent Vice President Kamala Harris to make a similar statement, which appeared to be an attempt to bolster her image following a disastrous interview on Fox News.

Key points of contention:

  • Despite claiming to support Israel’s military efforts, the Biden-Harris administration repeatedly pressured Israel to limit its operations in Gaza, even going so far as to demand a ceasefire.

  • Israel’s strike against Sinwar came despite threats of an arms embargo and delayed weapon deliveries from the U.S., all of which placed significant hurdles in front of Israel’s military objectives.

  • Biden’s team also tried to prevent Israel from entering Rafah, where Sinwar was ultimately killed, yet now the administration is attempting to reap the political benefits.

Harris, in her statement, echoed Biden’s narrative, commending the work of U.S. and Israeli forces, but notably avoided mentioning the president by name. She ended her speech with vague promises of "peace, dignity, and security for all," but refused to take any questions and quickly left the room.

The hypocrisy of the Biden-Harris administration’s sudden embrace of Israel’s successful mission is hard to miss. For months, they worked to restrain Israel, slow-walking weapons shipments and attempting to impose ceasefires, all while Israel fought to dismantle Hamas’ leadership. Yet, as soon as the IDF succeeded in taking out one of Hamas' most dangerous leaders, the administration was quick to shift gears and claim credit.

With Biden and Harris now desperately trying to look tough on terrorism, the disconnect between their rhetoric and their actions has never been clearer. As the conflict rages on, it's becoming increasingly evident that Israel’s determination despite the roadblocks thrown up by this administration has been the driving force behind its military victories.
