Biden-Harris Administration Allocates $80M to Aid Immigrants in Avoiding Southern Border

In a shocking revelation, the Biden-Harris administration has been found to have spent over $80 million in taxpayer dollars to assist migrants from Central and South America in entering the U.S. without passing through the heavily monitored southern border. This initiative, part of the 2023 Safe Mobility Initiative, works with the United Nations to help migrants sidestep the border crisis optics that have plagued this administration.

A report from the Republican-controlled Judiciary subcommittee on immigration integrity, security, and enforcement unveiled the disturbing details. According to their findings:

• The Safe Mobility Initiative partners with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to operate Safe Mobility Offices (SMOs) in 13 cities across Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador.

• These SMOs provide migrants with various pathways into the U.S., including family reunification, labor opportunities, and humanitarian parole—often bypassing traditional border crossings.

This program, created under the pretense of "safe migration," effectively ensures that tens of thousands of migrants enter the U.S. without public scrutiny. The subcommittee discovered that:

• Over 18,000 migrants have already resettled in the U.S. through this initiative.

• Nearly 67,000 more were referred for potential resettlement, with an additional 7,000 identified for other entry methods.

• Alarmingly, only 14% of the staff involved in this initiative are U.S. citizens. This means the majority of taxpayer dollars are funding foreign nationals employed by the UN to advise migrants on bypassing U.S. border procedures.

This open-borders strategy not only undermines U.S. sovereignty but also burdens American taxpayers with the cost of facilitating this backdoor entry. The Biden administration’s approach avoids the politically damaging images of border chaos but does nothing to address the fundamental issues of illegal immigration and border security.

Republicans have long warned about the dangers of the Biden-Harris border policies. This latest discovery reinforces the need for strong oversight and a return to policies that prioritize American interests and national security.
