Trump Conviction Likely To Be Overturned Due To Lack Of Crime

Former Attorney General Barr slams Trump case as a travesty and warns of constitutional violations.

Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr recently voiced strong opinions regarding the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal case against former President Donald Trump, asserting that the conviction is likely to be “overturned” because “there was no crime” committed.

“I said from the very start that this was an abomination,” Barr declared in a recent interview. “And I actually was surprised that they went ahead with the case because there really was nothing there.”

Barr elaborated on the lack of substance in the prosecution's arguments. “There was no crime there and they never were able to really articulate it until after the defense rested its case. So I thought the whole thing was a travesty.”

  • He critiqued the trial's proceedings, noting that there was never a disciplined effort to make the prosecutor establish the elements of the alleged crime.

  • Barr emphasized that the case was falsely premised on a supposed Federal Election Campaign violation, which he stated did not exist.

Barr warned that the ramifications of this case extend beyond the courtroom, potentially damaging political discourse and the overall health of the nation. “This case is going to be overruled because there are just multiple errors and violations of constitutional rights,” he predicted.

He also posed a grave concern about the potential political fallout. “What happens if there’s a close election and Biden squeaks through and then the case is overruled? Half the country is going to feel that this was a stolen election. And, you know, again, this is a grave injustice and disservice to the country.”

Barr further criticized the gag order imposed on Trump, arguing that it infringes on his rights. He asserted that Trump should be free to speak out against those who testified against him, the judge, the prosecution, and the case itself.

The former Attorney General's comments highlight the deep flaws he perceives in the prosecution's case against Trump and the broader implications for American democracy. As the 2024 election approaches, Barr’s warnings serve as a stark reminder of the potential for judicial overreach to undermine public trust in the electoral process.
