Democrat Barbara Lee Attacks Trump’s McDonald’s Visit, Calls It A ‘Stunt’
Lee and MSNBC host question Trump’s McDonald’s stop, but viral moment resonates with voters.
Democrat Rep. Barbara Lee (CA) took aim at former President Donald Trump over the weekend, criticizing his recent visit to a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania where he worked the fryer and served food to his supporters. During a segment on MSNBC, left-wing host Alex Witt questioned the purpose behind Trump’s stop at the fast-food chain, calling the event bizarre and seemingly illogical.
Witt, clearly puzzled, asked Lee, “What is the logic behind this going to a McDonald’s?”
Lee didn’t hesitate, dismissing the visit as a mere publicity stunt. “There’s no logic to it,” she said. “He, as you know, appears to be not well. And, he’s engaged in some really bizarre types of activities during this campaign.” Lee also falsely claimed that Trump has not put forth an economic agenda, saying his behavior throughout the campaign has been erratic.
However, Trump’s appearance at the McDonald’s, far from being a random stunt, was a clear jab at Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris has previously claimed she worked at a McDonald’s during college, but the claim has come under scrutiny for lack of evidence. Trump capitalized on this by joking, “I’ve now worked 15 minutes more than Kamala. She never worked here.”
Trump’s McDonald’s Moment Goes Viral: Despite Lee’s criticisms, Trump’s visit produced iconic photos and viral clips, cementing his connection with everyday Americans.
Democrat Desperation?: As Election Day draws near, Democrats seem more focused on mocking Trump’s campaign appearances than addressing their own leadership failures.
Reality Check: Trump’s economic policies, including tax cuts and deregulation, helped fuel one of the strongest economies in decades before the pandemic something Lee conveniently left out.
While Lee and Witt dismiss Trump’s fast-food stop, it’s clear that the former president knows how to strike a chord with voters, contrasting his connection to everyday Americans with the Democrats' disconnected rhetoric. As always, Trump’s ability to turn even a McDonald’s visit into a viral moment shows he’s far from the out-of-touch figure Democrats want to portray.
