AOC Claims Trump and Musk Are Mocking Working-Class Americans

Ocasio-Cortez attacks Trump’s McDonald’s stop and Musk’s voter turnout campaign as out of touch.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is back in the spotlight after accusing former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk of mocking working-class Americans. Her comments came during a campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris, where she criticized Trump for serving food at McDonald’s and Musk for giving away $1 million a day to encourage voter turnout.

Trump, known for connecting with everyday Americans, recently made headlines by serving supporters at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania. The move was aimed at highlighting Harris’ dubious claim that she worked at the fast-food chain in her youth. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has been actively supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign by giving away $1 million daily to random individuals who sign his America PAC petition, a show of support for the First and Second Amendments.

But according to Ocasio-Cortez, these gestures aren’t genuine acts of goodwill. Instead, she claims Trump and Musk are ridiculing regular Americans. “They’re not trying to empathize with us. They are making fun of us,” she told a crowd. She suggested that Trump’s McDonald’s stop was little more than a publicity stunt meant to mock people who work at fast-food chains. “Donald Trump thinks that people who work at McDonald’s are a joke,” she declared.

Ocasio-Cortez also took aim at Musk’s daily million-dollar giveaways, dismissing them as a gimmick that belittles the struggles of everyday Americans. “Elon Musk thinks that dangling money in front of a working person is a cute thing to do when the election of our lives is before us,” she said, accusing both men of using their wealth to manipulate voters and downplay the seriousness of the upcoming election.

Her claims, however, ignore a critical reality: Trump and Musk have long found ways to resonate with the working class. Trump’s appearance at McDonald’s is far from an elitist move it’s an acknowledgment of the everyday American experience. And Musk, whose $1 million giveaway is intended to boost voter participation, is engaging in the democratic process in a way that appeals to voters who feel unheard by political elites like Ocasio-Cortez herself.

With just weeks left until the 2024 election, Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks reflect growing desperation from the left. As voters increasingly turn to Trump and figures like Musk for leadership, Democrats are finding it harder to mask their disconnect from the working class.
