AOC Says Restricting Men from Women’s Bathrooms ‘Endangers Women’
GOP leaders fight to preserve women-only spaces against radical gender ideology.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sparked outrage this week after slamming House Republicans for supporting legislation that would restrict access to women’s restrooms and locker rooms based on biological sex.
Ocasio-Cortez accused House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) of endangering women by advancing what she labeled as an exclusionary and harmful agenda.
“It’s disgusting. And everybody, no matter how you feel on this issue, should reject it completely,” Ocasio-Cortez declared. “They’re endangering women. They’re endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It’s gross.”
At the center of the debate is Mace’s proposed legislation, the Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act, which would prohibit individuals from accessing single-sex facilities on federal property that do not correspond to their biological sex. The bill addresses restrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas, ensuring that such spaces remain single-sex by law.
House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the proposal, noting its practical application and necessity:
“All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson stated. “Women deserve women’s only spaces.”
Johnson also pointed out that private and unisex restrooms are readily available throughout the Capitol for those who need them.
Rep. Nancy Mace introduced the bill during an appearance on The Michael Knowles Show, emphasizing that it reflects the views of most Americans, including many independents and Democrats.
“This is a question that needs to be answered: Do women have rights or not?” Mace said. “Are we going to allow these men to bully us into submission? And I say, no, no more. I’m done with this.”
Mace’s proposal directly counters efforts by radical activists to enforce gender ideology in public and private spaces. She vowed to fight relentlessly for the safety and dignity of women and girls across the country, regardless of threats and backlash.
“I’m going to do everything I can to protect women and girls here on the hill, but also across the nation,” Mace continued. “This is about fundamental fairness and common sense. Women have the right to feel safe and secure in spaces meant for them.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s assertion that the legislation “endangers women” is emblematic of the left’s increasingly divisive rhetoric surrounding gender issues. Many conservatives argue that such claims distort the conversation and distract from the central issue of safeguarding privacy and security for biological women.
As the debate intensifies, Republicans are standing firm, determined to uphold the principle that biological differences matter and that women deserve spaces free from the intrusion of gender politics.
