Americans Back Trump’s Mass Deportation Plan in New Poll

Bipartisan support grows for tackling illegal immigration as Democrats vow resistance.

A new poll reveals that Americans overwhelmingly support President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to enact a mass deportation program targeting illegal immigrants. The survey, conducted by YouGov on behalf of CBS News, highlights a clear mandate for immigration enforcement, one of Trump’s central campaign promises.

The poll of 2,232 adults found that 45% of respondents believe deporting illegal immigrants should be a “high priority”, while another 28% consider it a “medium priority.” Only 27% said it should not be a priority.

When asked specifically about the idea of a national deportation program, 57% of Americans said they would support Trump’s plan to remove illegal immigrants from the country. Support for the initiative spans racial groups, with:

  • 74% of white respondents identifying deportations as a high or medium priority.

  • 70% of black respondents agreeing it should be a priority.

  • 69% of Hispanic respondents also supporting the plan.

These findings align with an earlier Rasmussen poll that showed 64% of voters approve of Trump’s proposal to “launch the largest deportation program in American history.”

Trump’s immigration strategy has been a cornerstone of his political agenda. Following his election victory, he announced that former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan will serve as his border czar to lead the deportation effort.

Homan, known for his tough stance on immigration enforcement, will oversee what Trump has described as “the largest deportation program in American history.” The administration plans to focus on individuals who have entered the U.S. illegally, with an emphasis on those involved in criminal activity.

Despite widespread public support, Democratic leaders and officials in blue states have already pledged to resist federal enforcement efforts.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, a Democrat, suggested he may use local police to block federal law enforcement from carrying out deportations in his city. His comments come in the wake of a shocking case involving a Venezuelan national who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl after entering the U.S. illegally under the Biden administration.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy, another Democrat, declared that state police would not cooperate with federal immigration authorities. This statement followed arrests in Boston of three illegal aliens, all charged with or convicted of child rape.

The poll results make clear that Americans are ready for decisive action on illegal immigration. The bipartisan support for Trump’s mass deportation agenda underscores the public’s frustration with the chaos at the border and the perceived failures of the Biden administration.

As Trump prepares to take office, his administration faces a stark choice: fulfill the will of the American people or yield to resistance from Democratic leaders and sanctuary cities. If public opinion is any indicator, the mandate for immigration enforcement is stronger than ever.
