Alex Pretti Caught Attacking ICE Agents Days Before Fatal Shooting
New footage shows violent provocation by Pretti as activists continue to blame federal agents and resist law enforcement.

Despite the media narrative painting Alex Pretti as a victim of law enforcement, newly surfaced video tells a far more revealing story. Days before he was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Pretti was caught on camera violently confronting federal immigration officers, escalating tensions in an already volatile situation.
Footage from January 13 shows Pretti aggressively approaching a federal vehicle, spitting at immigration officers and kicking out a taillight, before flipping off the agents. At one point, an officer exits the vehicle and quickly subdues Pretti in a brief scuffle. Pretti manages to escape slipping out of his coat and fleeing behind a crowd of anti-ICE protesters.
In the video, what appears to be a firearm is clearly visible in Pretti’s waistband, yet the agents chose not to pursue him. Despite the obvious threat, federal officials showed restraint a decision that may have cost them dearly in the weeks that followed.
Just 11 days later, Pretti was shot and killed during a separate confrontation with Border Patrol agents in the same city. According to federal reports, Pretti resisted arrest and was found to be armed matching the pattern of violent behavior seen earlier in the month. Still, activists and liberal media figures rushed to label the incident a case of “state-sanctioned violence” without waiting for facts to emerge.
Pretti’s family attorney, Steve Schleicher, claimed Pretti “posed no threat,” even after seeing the January 13 footage. He insists the earlier scuffle in which Pretti attacked agents and fled with what looked like a weapon was somehow proof of innocence.
This all unfolded in Minneapolis’ Powderhorn neighborhood, just blocks from where immigration officers fatally shot Renee Good days earlier. Good had deliberately used her car to obstruct immigration enforcement efforts. After hitting one of the agents with her vehicle, she was shot while refusing to comply with commands to exit.
Yet even as these confrontations escalate, state and local officials in Minnesota continue to embolden anti-ICE activists. Instead of urging compliance with lawful orders, they've encouraged resistance. The consequences are unfolding in real time: federal officers under attack, communities destabilized, and national law enforcement efforts undermined.
The Department of Homeland Security has so far declined to acknowledge the January 13 encounter, stating that no formal record exists of the event raising serious questions about documentation, accountability, and coordination between ICE, Border Patrol, and DHS leadership.
In response to the growing unrest and lack of cooperation from local officials, the Trump administration took decisive action this week, replacing key personnel in Minnesota. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino was removed, and Tom Homan, former acting director of ICE and now White House border czar, has been deployed to oversee federal law enforcement operations in the state.
Homan, a vocal proponent of strict immigration enforcement, is now tasked with serving as the federal liaison to Minnesota leadership, including Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Whether state Democrats will work with Homan remains to be seen but the message from the White House is clear: the era of lawlessness is over.
President Trump called Pretti’s death a “very unfortunate incident,” but stopped short of condemning law enforcement a stark contrast to Democrat lawmakers who have smeared agents as “secret operatives” and demanded the abolition of ICE altogether.
The two agents involved in Pretti’s death remain on administrative leave while Customs and Border Protection continues its investigation. But the facts are already painting a clear picture one that the media would rather ignore:
Pretti instigated a violent confrontation days before his death.
He appeared armed and fled the scene while surrounded by agitators.
Activists are inflaming tensions with false narratives and political stunts.
The Biden-era policies that once handcuffed law enforcement are over.
Federal agents deserve the right to defend themselves against real threats. The American people deserve honest reporting and law enforcement that isn't sabotaged by political activists and weak-kneed local officials. If order is to be restored, facts not feelings must lead the conversation.
